This is a very rare original sketch drawn by Fred Gwynne of his immortal character “Herman Munster”. It is widely known that Gwynne rarely even signed anything relating to the Munsters, especially after the show ended in the mid sixties.  So, these actual sketches of Herman Munster are extremely scarce. It is estimated by the top Hollywood autograph dealer that only about four Authentic examples (though there are forgeries floating around such as on eBay) have surfaced in the market place in the past 30 years. We now have TWO of them.

The fact that he would be typed cast would forever haunt him.  However, it was later in life that he was making a comeback both in Stephen King’s “Pet Cemetery” and a most notable performance as Judge Chamberlain Haller in “My Cousin Vinny” which premiered a year before he died.  He was a very beloved character and according to those who knew him, a very gracious person.
