Civil War discharge of Giles W. Avery, September 8, 1862. In the 1870’s the Ferguson’s married into the Avery family. This Civil War era full plate tin type photo of Giles Avery (bottom middle) and group of uniformed men and his Civil War discharge have been with the Ferguson family until consigned to auction in January 2007. The family is from Groton, CT. The tin type is in very good condition with excellent contrast for this period photography. The subtle red in the photo is NOT part of the photo but glare and reflection in the digital image of the original photo. A historical Civil War lot grouping.
