Fantastic vintage signed OZ photo as the "Wicked Witch".   Autographed with bold blue fountain pen with the typical long inscriptions that GENUINE Margaret Hamilton signed photos always had. Signed "Well! Don't just STAND there! get me a towel! Oh - too late! Blast! WW".. When Ms Hamilton genuinely signed photos she Never just signed her name, there was always an inscription and 99% of the time, a long inscription. And the inscriptions with OZ related verbiage are most sought after by by both autograph and OZ Collectors.   .

Ms Hamilton also often only signed with her initials or just "W.W.W." (Wicked Witch of the West). But, would still include terrific OZ related inscriptions.   Although she signed this photo with "WW", she penned one of the best OZ related inscriptions on any Hamilton photo we've ever seen! And, UN-personalized! Plus, just a Gorgeous photo with a touch of vintage sepia to it.

* Ms Hamilton almost always personally inscribed photos to someone. However, because these photos were to be used for a Charity Auction there is NO Name on them. And NOT having someone else's name on the photo is more appealing to many collectors.

This photo along with four others (total of five) we recently acquired were obtained in 1972 directly from Ms Hamilton. They were for a charity auction to benefit the Southbury (CT) Training School. The person who contacted Ms Hamilton and received them from her on 1972 was also the manager of the auction.   She has owned them for 40 years and only decided to recently sell for health reasons. Her detailed letter of provenance (or copy of) will be included.

Also included will be a scanned copy of the original envelop photos were sent in, addressed completely in Ms Hamilton's hand. She also adds notes to the envelop including lower left , "DO NOT open until auctioned!!"
