It is on a rare occasion we acquire one of these 1949 re-release OZ lobby cards. We always believed they were superior to the original 1939 cards, the color, artwork , graphics are just spectacular. For many years we thought these 49 lobby cards were our little secret. That changed when Heritage auctions sold eight cards separately. The prices shocked everyone. One sold for over $7500 in March 2008! Even more then the original 1939 cards. Our little secret was no longer. The rest of the collecting world apparently discovered these extraordinary treasures.

The Wizard of Oz (MGM, R-1949). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Among the sequences shot for the film, but eventually cut, was a triumphal return to the Emerald City with the witch's broom, known as "the restoration scene."  This is the lobby card showing the cut scene.

Very good-excellent condition.   The left border had a small 2" chip missing that was professionally restored.  And a couple tape pulls (a small layer paper pulled off from tape but NOT missing paper) on bottom border. . But, no where near the main lobby card images.
