It is on a rare occasion we acquire one of these 1949 re-release OZ lobby cards. We always believed they were superior to the original 1939 cards, the color, artwork , graphics are just spectacular. For many years we thought these 49 lobby cards were our little secret. That has changed in the past couple years. This card sold in March 2008 for $7800!! Now confirming even more desirable then the original 1939 cards. Our little secret was no longer. The rest of the collecting world apparently discovered these extraordinary treasures.

Here we are offering the best card of the set, "Wicked Witch Behind Tree" . You know the scene. A BEAUTY! And, is was INDEED, THE card that sold for over $4200 at Heritage in July 2006. And NOW, $7800 in March 2008. WHY you ask? In addition to the superior artwork, color and graphics of this 1949 lobby card set, there were a few cards that had scenes which were NOT included in the original 1939 or 1955 sets. In particular, this "Witch" scene. Some speculate she was not included in the original 1939 lobby card set because the studio wanted to keep her appearance a secret, hence more shock value. Either way it is one of the reasons this set has become even MORE popular then the original 1939 set. It usually takes us several years to find ONE of these 1949 Oz cards. About a year ago. we were fortunate to acquire FIVE of these magnificent pieces of Hollywood History. But several months ago we sold most of them including this prized "Wicked Witch" card. However, we surprisingly we just acquired this card from another collector (when we expected it to be MANY years before we would have such an opportunity).. Grab this one or wait about 4-5 years for us to find another. This is only the second time in 20+ years of collecting we have acquired this particular, and most valuable card. . The ONLY "Wizard of OZ" lobby card to feature the Wicked Witch. A prize in any collection !.

Condition is excellent. There were some very minor touch up for pinholes at middletop border and a light scratch in the middle of card in grass area. and that was it. No repairs to borders or cleaning. We kept the minor repairs to just those tiny areas as the card was in great shape and didn't need anything major.
