Here is an extraordinary piece of history.  The greatest magician that ever lived , who's popularity today is even more then when he was alive 100 years ago...  An original 1908 edition from the original printing "The Publishers Printing Company" (not the later release from London).   But, what also makes this incredible artifact so amazing is Houdini's signature and long note to a personal friend.    On the signature page he adds somewhat intimate detail about this very controversial book .   A prized find any collector will be proud to have and showcase on their book-shelve, maybe laying on the coffee table to ultra-impress guests.

One of the best Houdini pieces we've ever acquired!

Signed book: The Unmasking of Robert-Houdin. NY: The Publishers Printing Company, 1908. Hardcover, 5.75 x 8.25, 333 pages. Signed and inscribed on the first free end page in blue fountain pen ink, “To my good old friend Harry Raner, Best wishes from the author, Harry Houdini.” Houdini signs again below, “May you have interested moments out of my book on which I spent twenty years research, H. H.,” and again vertically in the right border, “Be sure & read the introduction, H. H.”

Autographic condition: fine, with some slight soiling and tiny spot of damp staining to the lower portion of the signed page. Book condition: G+. Brown cloth-covered boards; edges worn, with some small tears in cloth; , with one small black paint spot on front; few hinges cracked; last page glued to paste down.  But overall, not bad condition for 106 year old book.

Houdini billed this controversial book as ‘the first authentic history of magic ever published,’ and it contained an unflattering account of Houdini's legendary predecessor and namesake Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, alleging that he had taken undue credit for other magicians’ innovations. Pre-certified PSA/DNA

AND, if you should acquire this historical treasure and want to create a museum worthy presentation, imagine how stunning it would look framed with an Original (instead of a reproduction photo) historical photo like one of these on our site -> SEE HERE...
