This past week , once again , confirms  that the collectible sector is not paying attention to the gloom and doom from the vast majority of the population.  They continue to live life to the fullest by not only smart investing but also instead of following the pack and worrying about yesterday or next week or next year they have decided  to, as Eckhart Tolle says, “Live in the NOW”.   Here are just a few examples of how resounding the collector market responded to choice memorabilia and collectibles over the past week. Babe Ruth Signed home run ball goes for $264,500 at auction

According to the Associated Press, the ball Babe Ruth hit for his 702nd career home run went for $264,500 earlier today at the Louisville Slugger Museum’s seventh annual live auction.  Ruth hit the home run in 1934 and later signed the ball. Marilyn Autographed Photo Goes for Over $63,000

Last weekend , at the same auction as the Babe Ruth Ball, a photograph of the late actress Marilyn Monroe, signed with love to her one-time husband, New York Yankee batting phenom Joe DiMaggio, went for $63,250, or about 50 percent higher than the median household income in Kentucky in 2008

Chinese Vase Sells for Over $85 Million

A Chinese vase found during a house clearout in London has sold at auction for what is believed to be a world record £43 million ($68 million).  But, with auction premium the actual selling price was over $85 Million.   The elaborately decorated 16 inch (40 cm) ceramic vase, which dates from the mid-18th century Qianlong period, was bought by a private buyer from mainland China on Thursday in Bainbridges, a small west London-based auction house.
After the addition of the 20 percent fees on its hammer price the final bill for the buyer was £53,105,000 ($85,176,578).
