CHARLES SAMUEL ADDAMS (American, 1912-1988)
Original Ink & Wash of "Lurch"
Best known for his famous "New Yorker" comic strip which later became a hit televsion series "The Addams Family" whch ran from 1964-1966. It was then later made into two movies starring Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston and Christopher Lloyd (as Lurch).
Here is Addams original ink & wash on board used for a magazine advertisement in the early 1980's. Signed to the right in his typical "Chas Addams". Great piece featuring his most famous character "Lurch". Very scarce original artwork that rarely ever surfaces in the market. Also comes with the original ad proof from this original artwork prior to advertisement publication and distribution.
The auction we acquired from had a second Addams piece of Wednesday Addams that was run in "Interior Design Magazine" Feb '83. Hence, this piece found together witht he "Wednesday" piece ran in several 1983 major magazines.
