Terrific EXTREMELY RARE, 7.75 x 10.25 magazine photo of Karloff as Frankenstein’s monster, clutching a statue in evident despair, boldly signed and inscribed in ballpoint, “Best wishes to Tom Crow, Boris Karloff.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Karloff’s hand and postmarked Kensington [Karloff then lived in his homeland of Great Britain], December 13, 1966. Both items are attractively matted and framed together to an overall size of 24 x 19.5. Intersecting mailing folds to photo (which Karloff appears to have purposely avoided with his carefully placed signature), otherwise fine condition. A must for the serious horror collector! Signed photos of Karloff as the monster are nearly impossible to find, at best, and represent one of the pinnacles of signed photos, not for just the horror collector, but the entertainment enthusiast as well. In fact, this is the first signed Frankenstein photo we have ever offered for sale. A Boris Karloff as Frankenstein photo that was sold by a major auction house in June of 2006 , had the signature in a dark area making it partially illegible and it STILL sold for $8000!
