ARTIST: Signed "Niels Walseth". Niels Walseth (1914-2001) is a well-listed artist. He was brought up in a home filled with paintings as both his parents were painters. He was educated at Teknisk Skole (the Technical School ), where the old painter Jacob Meyer inspired him to carry on the traditions from the great old painters at Charlottenborg. His motifs were everything from small fishing village in Zealand to motifs he found on his many journeys to Austria , Switzerland , Italy , Bayern and Norway , where he also exhibited. Price example: He sold "An afternoon excursion on the lake" for $4,626 at Sotheby s, London in March 1990 ( Lot 101, 19 1/4" by 27 1/6").
DATING: Second part of the 20th Century.

20th century Louis XV inspired frame. Leafed sight edge, ogee panel with curved rails and open carved rocaille corners and centers. Whitewashed gold finish with antiquing and distress, as popular in the 1930's. Joined with corner plates.
SIZE: 16" by 20" (41 cm by 51 cm) without the frame. 21 1/2" by 25 1/2" (55 cm by 65 cm) with the frame.
