Here is an 8X8 vintage ORIGINAL wanted poster issued by the FBI in 1934 for the arrest of Bonnie & Clyde. 

NOTE: Not a copy often seen on the internet auction sites.  Over the past few years, we have acquired the knowledge HOW to differentiate between the Authentic Wanted Poster and the reproductions primarily found on Ebay (which of course sell for what appears to be a bargain).  We look for, acquire and ONLY sell ORIGINALS.   If you ever had the chance to own both the reproductions AND the Genuine Originals (we have) you would be able to see and feel the difference between the two.

Issued by the Dept. of Justice for Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. It is on original D.O.J. paper stock and in excellent condition.  Contains their criminal records, relatives, descriptions of each etc.

Very RARE and HIGHLY DESIRABLE piece!!  It is getting MORE & MORE Difficult to find authentic specimens of these wanted posters, since 90% of them on the market (particularly Ebay) are reproductions.

Frank Sinatra was known to carry with him and give to friends Cigarette Lighters with his name imprinted on them as a token of his thanks.  These lighters would simply say  "Thanks Sinatra" or "Thanks Frank Sinatra" (earlier ones). What more needs to be said. We have been fortunate enough to acquire this rare piece of personal memorabilia once belonging to "Ol Blues Eyes' himself.    The lighter is 14K Gold Plated.  The imprinted autograph puts this lighter in the early-mid 1950's era.

Fantastic OZ scene! Vintage signed photo in her trademark long personal inscription.  In our 20+ years of collecting autographs and Oz Memorabilia, we have noticed Margaret Hamilton always included a nice inscription and seem to have fun with it. This was typical in her authentically signed photos. Most of the forgeries such as on eBay don't go beyond a plain signature.   Signed in blue ink "Don't Give Me that Money Nonsense! Watch!!See I Told you! .........come to you Maggie Hamilton".

One the best photos of the Wicked Witch, as she  gets ready to taunt Judy Garland in the crystal ball, in a most memorable scene.

Here is the desirable ORIGINAL one sheet from the 1966 movie based on the immensely popular 60's TV series.  I think the movie lead to the series.   Excellent condition, with minor wear along the fold lines. .  .   One of my personal favorites!!    A real beauty, even more so in person!!

Swatch from Clyde Barrows Death Pants

Over the years I have never been attracted to collecting personal artifacts like celebrity clothing, strands of hair and other personal articles because unlike autographs there is really nothing that can be authenticated (unless DNA is involved).  However, I am so impressed by the extraordinary provenance that comes with this historical item it was very easy for me to get excited.  Below is the detailed description from the original owner.

Outlaw History for sale: this is a 1" swatch cut from the actual death trousers worn by Clyde Barrow on the day he and Bonnie Parker were ambushed near Gibsland, La. on May 23, 1934.

Clyde Barrows trousers and shirt that he wore that day were kept in the Barrow family until Butterfield & Butterfield auctioned off the bullet riddled shirt on April 14th 1997 in San Francisco - it fetched $85,000 (purchased by Whiskey Pete's Casino who also owns the actual death car) and the global media coverage was extensive.  The trousers were cut into 870 swatches and affixed to ornate parchment like certificates numbered and hand signed by the late Marie Barrow, Clyde's sister.  She co-authored the book, "The Family Story of Bonnie and Clyde," with Phillip Steele (book not included).  I was Marie Barrow's business partner and we used to sell these swatch certificates through Old West magazine ads, Autograph Collector magazine ads,  and memorabilia & gun shows until she passed away in 1999.  This is one of the few of these limited edition certificates left. Near mint condition accompanied with a copy of the notarized certificate by Marie Barrow attesting to the authenticity of the item and the history of the artifact.  Also included is a copy of a Tulsa World newspaper article  interviewing Marie and making mention of her guest appearance at the Tulsa Book & Paper Fair on November 21, 1998 and stating that she would be selling the signed, limited edition swatch certificates!

** UPDATE: As many of you know this is the 50th anniversary of B&C's death. Hence, two biographies were just released including the critically acclaimed "Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde" by Jeff Guinn. AND, in this book on page 259 it mentions this very "pants swatch" and how Clyde's sister partnered with a memorabilia dealer to cut his "death pants" into 800 pieces and offer each with a numbered certificate of authenticity.  Yes, these swatches are mentioendin a Bonnie & Clyde best seller.  Offered is number 236 out of the edition of 870.  Size of certificate is 8 1/2 X 11".

Rare Frank Sinatra's Cal Neva Lodge Lighter

This is one of the most desirable and collectible casino and Frank Sinatra related items of all.  As you will note from the images below, what makes this particular lighter special is its condition - AMAZINGLY EXCELLENT!  Unstruck is the condition as the wicker was never burnt.  Whoever owned this piece, certainly wanted to preserve its condition as it is now being presented with almost NO lacquer wear.  Note that this is probaby the BEST CONDITION Frank Sinatra Cal Neva lighter that has ever been offered on the internet and certainly is the best condition in which you will ever find this lighter today.  Printed/engraved on lighter is "Frank SInatra's Cal Neva Lodge"

Frank Sinatra was known to give these lighters to friends who visited him at the lodge.

During the time this item was made, Frank Sinatra was at a very high point in his life and career and figured that it would be great to partner up with buddy Dean Martin and silent partner, Chicago mob boss, Sam "Momo" Giancana, and others to run his own casino, the Cal Neva Lodge.  However, Nevada gaming commission regulations prohibited the attendance of any known criminals at any of its licensed gaming facilities.  Since the FBI was watching the Cal Neva closely, they reported that mob boss Sam Giancana did visit the facility and his presence was acknowledged by Frank Sinatra.  As a result, Frank Sinatra lost his gaming license for the Cal Neva.  Years later, in the early 1980s, Frank would redeem himself before the Nevada gaming commission and win his license back after grueling testimony by himself, Kirk Douglas, the Los Angeles sheriff, and many others.  It's interesting to note that in Frank Sinatra's testimony, he stated that he never saw Sam Giancana at the Cal Neva.

As you can see from above, this particular Cal Neva lighter from Frank Sinatra's ownership is highly collectible and desirable not because of any hype but because of its true value derived from (1) the richness of this true story; (2) the rarity of this item; (3) the condition and appearance of this item; AND (4) the fact that this was the only time in Frank Sinatra's life that he owned a casino outright, even though it was for only 2 years.

Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman

This is an original fight poster to the fight dubbed "The Rumble in the Jungle" between Muhammad Ali (Cassius Clay) and George Foreman held in Zaire , Africa on October 30, 1974.  

Size: 14x18"

This was the first heavyweight championship fight ever fought in Africa !! And, it is the most famous and most heavily depicted heavyweight fight in history pitting these two former Olympic Gold Medal winners, the much heavily favored Foreman against the underdog, Ali. Foreman was undefeated up until this time. The critics, the world believed Foreman was invincible. He made such quick work over Joe Frazier and Ken Norton that I remember the ring side announcers joking that "Forman must have left the car running". 

Ultimately it was a fight that proved Ali was "The Greatest," as he defeated Foreman in the 8th round. Ali allowed Foreman to punch himself out as Ali performed his famous "Rope-A-Dope," technique. And, at the right moment, Ali unleased a flurry of lightening speed punches that just overwhelmed the giant Foreman and sent him to the canvas as the world looked on in disbelief. As a result of this fight, Muhammad Ali was named Fighter of the Year by Ring magazine, and "Sportsman of the Year" by Sports Illustrated! Ali also received the honor of being named Professional Athlete of the Year and received the 1974 Hickok Belt Award.  But, maybe his highest honor was on December 20, 1999 when Sports Illustrated named Muhammad Ali "Athlete of the Century".

The significance of this RARE poster cannot be understated!  The poster offered here was actually made for the fight that took place and was actually used to promote it!!  The new date, due to Foreman's trainign injury, is stamped in the upper left.

Poster is printed on cardboard, great color and design graphics. This particular one is in the best condition of any we have acquired over the past 20 years. No fold lines or crease marks like most we have seen. It still has a slight glossy tone to it.  Near Mint Condition. . The most desirable poster for this most significant fight that the boxing world have ever seen. (Other than Zaire site poster that sells for 10-15 thousand dollars)

1964 - This is an awesome mint unused example. In ORIGINAL Box, NEVER REMOVED!  The box is as straight and perfect as the day it was made over 40 years ago . Hard to imagine surviving in this kind of shape after all these years. No litho splits or tears anywhere. One of the nicest boxed examples that you will ever find. Still has its original price tag for 1.29

A real TREASURE!!  You could spend a lifetime looking for one of these, in this un-used condition, as though it was sitting on Woolworth's shelf for the past 42 years!!!

Here is one of Hitchcock’s most popular thriller's. And, this is the most desirable card of the "Vertigo" lobby card set. A striking scene, which was not actually in the movie but an eerie representation of the story’s theme. Both of Kim Novak ultra ego's rendering James Stewart powerless. We are often asked to locate this particular card for clients. This is the first we have acquired in about 5 years.

President Andrew Jackson 1835 signed check. Drawn on the bank of the metropolis, Washington D.C. and dated November 4th, 1835. Made payable to J.D. Woodsedes for $10.00. The signature is beautiful and unaffected by the cancellation. The check has some very minor imperfections but is an extremely nice example of a Jackson check from his presidential days. The check comes from the Marshall b. Coyne collection.

Andrew Jackson, seventh President of the United States, was the dominant actor in American politics between Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln. Born to obscure parents and orphaned in youth, he was the first "self-made man" and the first westerner to reach the White House. He became a democratic symbol and founder of the Democratic Party, the country's most venerable political organization. During his two-term presidency, he expanded executive powers and transformed the President's role from chief administrator to popular tribune.

Jackson's presidency defined itself in two central episodes: the nullification crisis and the "Bank War." Jackson took office amid mounting sectional acrimony over the "American System" program of fostering economic development through transportation subsidies and through protective tariffs on imports to aid American manufacturers. Many Southerners believed these policies promoted Northern growth at their expense. Jackson curbed the American System by vetoing road and canal bills beginning with the Maysville Road in 1830. However, in 1832 the state of South Carolina declared the existing tariff unconstitutional, null and void. The state took steps to block tariff collections within its borders. Though he favored a lower tariff, Jackson acted quickly to uphold federal supremacy -- by force, if necessary. In a ringing proclamation, he declared the Union indivisible and branded nullification as treason. Congress reduced the tariff in 1833, defusing the crisis.

Jackson secured the presidential succession in 1836 to his faithful lieutenant and second vice president, Martin Van Buren. He then retired to The Hermitage, his cotton plantation near Nashville, where he died in 1845.

Help! (United Artists, 1965). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). This was the second film to feature the Fab Four, made to take advantage of the explosion of interest in the Beatles worldwide in the mid-1960s. Ringo Starr is the focus here, as he's pursued by a weird cult who have marked him for human sacrifice due to his inadvertent possession of a sacred ring. It's up to band mates John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney to help bail him out as the cult chases them to a variety of exotic locales. Along the way, of course, there's music, including "Ticket to Ride," "You're Going to Lose That Girl," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and the title song.

This extremely rare and desirable three sheet is in excellent condition and has been professionally linen backed.  Rarely does the Three Sheet for this title appear in the marketplace.

In fine condition, with punch holes to left edge, two small areas of adhesive residue at the edges, the collector's typed notations identifying Lugosi as Frankenstein Monster of the screen. This was an incredible collection obtained in the 1940's by the same individual in Salt Lake City who acquired the Boris Karloff and Lon Chaney signatures we have available. All this autographs appear to have been obtained while the star performed at the Capital Theatre in Slat Lake City.

Jake's curiosity drags him much deeper into the situation as he uncovers what might be a major conspiracy to hold L.A. hostage to the water system owner, Noah Cross (Huston), who also happens to be Evelyn's estranged father.

Terrific and very rare original vintage Ringling Brothers & Barnum circus poster.  This is particularly appealing poster with Capt Clyde Beatty and 40 ferocious lions, beautiful artwork!  Dates to around 1930. Also, note the absence of “Bailey” in the title.

Size: 20x27”.  Very good condition with some minor tape repairs on upper right and lower fold separation.   One of the NICEST  RB&B Circus posters we’ve ever come across.

This poster for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus touted the "Mr. and Mrs. Gargantua the Great" gorilla exhibit. The poster has light edge and fold wear, wrinkling, a couple of smudges, and a 6-inch scuff tear in the upper left. A snipe has been glued on for the June 28, 1941 show in Hawthorne, New York. There is a printer's union stamp and the year has been added in ink. Wonderful stone litho artwork of Mr. and Mrs. Gargantua. Fine/Very Fine.

"Dressed to Kill", 1946

Very scarce original title card (11x14) for the Universal Pictures presentation of "Dressed To Kill" starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. This would be their final screen appearance as the famous crime solving duo. In this entry in the series, they must battle a gang of crooks led by a beautiful woman (Patricia Morison) trying to get their hands on three music boxes which hide the location of stolen Bank of England printing plates.

Title card is in very fine/near mint condition. There is a small tear in the middle of the left border (Less than 1") and very minimal bumping on the borders. There are no pinholes or other significant issues on the card. Very fresh color on this title card. While some of the Universal/Holmes title cards suffer from uninspired artwork, this card has great shots of Rathbone and Bruce along with Morison plus two nice scene pictures and in the right corner artwork from the scene where the criminals kidnap Holmes.

A rare chance to own an original title card for this title. VERY rarely does a lobby card or one sheet appear on the market for this title.  Even the major poster auction houses have found none, except for one offered in 2006.

Edward Masters was indeed a master of Farm and Village Scenes. His work, depth, color, details is incredible.

Edward Masters is a highly listed artist without dates (only that he was active in period of 1869). Even smaller sizes of his work sell for several thousand dollars..

Condition: Has been relined, some craquelures in sky area due to age, frame is relatively new.

WOW!  In the 1940’s a couple was at the Copacabana in New York and had an encounter of a lifetime with the most famous singer of all time at the most famous Night Club. The result was a historic in-person autograph on a historical relic, an original Copacabana napkin.   If you are looking for the ultimate Sinatra autograph, on the ultimate vintage, historical piece, this is it!  This museum quality piece has been Professionally BEAUTIFULLY Framed and matted with an original vintage photo from "Pal Joey".  We created a DOUBLE matt for the napkin with a scanned copy of the front in left window and the Original autograph in the right window.

This wonderful, RARE, authentic, 1940s, Frank Sinatra autograph is on an original Copacabana Club cocktail napkin. The signature is in excellent plus condition; It and is clear and vivid and is signed in blue pen. The Copacabana napkin is also in excellent plus condition with only a small fold or wrinkle on the one corner (as can be seen in photo). It was kept flat all these years by the woman acquired it in person. She and her husband got the In-Person autograph when they met Frank Sinatra while at the Copacabana in New York City in the 1940s. Mr. Sinatra autographed it in front of them. It is a fine example of a 1940s Frank Sinatra signature. It has never been offered For Sale anywhere until now!  It comes with a letter of provenance from the person I bought from who acquired from this lady. It also comes with another vintage napkin (unsigned) she collected from the Viking Hotel in Newport, RI during the 1940's. The napkin, with “The Copa Girl” on it, has great color and says “Monte Proser’s Copacabana” in two places and “Plaza 8-1060” as well as “Copa Cocktail Bar,

This 1949 re-issue lobby card has a couple of small edge tears, a few edge scuffs, and a few light stains. Otherwise Very Fine Condition. The card features the "After" shot of Baclanova.

These lobby cards are extremely RARE.  The One and Three sheet surface from time to time, however, the lobby cards virtually never appear on the market. An original from the 1932 release sell for up to over $10,000.

General Douglas MacArthur

Vintage Signed Photo

Exceptional Vintage Signed 11x14” photo of General MacArthur in uniform.   This particular autographed photo is spectacular for a few reasons. First, it is one of the BEST MacArthur signatures we have seen in 20 years of collecting, bold with a dark blue fountain pen, in an ideal location on the collar above his “five stars”.

This photo and other mementoes came from the estate of MacArthur’s personal secretary, Florence Varney, who was with him for ten years after his retirement.   Included with this magnificent historical autographed photo is a copy of the original 1961 letter  where MacArthur expresses his regret over Ms Varney’s resignation. Also, included is a copy of the original 1964 telegram sent to Ms Varney for General MacArthur’s funeral invitation. An incredible, rare collection.

The photo is in Excellent + condition, including a pristine 10 out of 10 signature.  The image is about 8x10” with about 2” borders.  Simply the BEST MacArthur piece we have ever acquired.

Bio:
George Armfield Smith (for by this name he was known until the year 1840) was born in Wales.  (Actually Bristol: according to Armfield family information)  His father was a painter, who for some time had a studio at 54, Pall Mall, London, (His father was the portrait painter William Armfield Hobday (1771-1831)) and from his father, George Armfield obtained any artistic tuition he may have received. 

He first exhibited in the year 1839, at the British Institution, when he showed two pictures, the "Study of a Dog's Head" and "Terrier chasing a Rabbit."  These works must have attracted notice, for in the Sporting Magazine of the following year, 1840, we find the first of a long series of his pictures which were engraved for that publication.  In 1840 he exhibited for the first time at the Royal Academy, showing two pictures, "Fox and Wild Rabbits" and "Terrier and Rabbit," and, as the lists show, he continued to exhibit with regularity at both the Academy and the British Institution for the ensuing twenty years.  He also sent pictures frequently to the Suffolk Street exhibitions. 

The British Institution catalogue gives his address in 1839 as 15, Lamb's Conduit Passage; but if he resided there at this time, he could not have remained long, as he spent practically all his life at Camberwell, Clapham, and Brixton.  His best period extended from 1840 to about 1869, and during these years his output was large.  About 1870 his sight began to fail, and in 1872 he submitted to an operation on one of his eyes at Guy's Hospital, when Dr. Bader removed the lens.  The operation was only partially successful, and his powers rapidly declined, he became the victim of fits of acute depression, in one of which he attempted to take his own life.  He recovered from the self-inflicted wound, and continued to paint, but was able to work only with the aid of a powerful glass and on small canvases.
