And there is a certain James Stewart "signature" that is quite skillfully done but is evident when you compare his consistent, genuine examples.  We have collected his autographs for over 25 years and even acquired a number of Harvey sketches directly from him.

Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch Autographed Photo

Terrific Wizard of Oz Wicked Witch signed 8x10" photo by Margaret Hamilton.  One of the best scenes of the immortal movie.   Signed IN PERSON in 1973.  Original owner's mother did Ms Hamilton’s hair in 1973 and signed this photo for her son John.  Signed "I am waiting for John to come down the road. Best Wishes Margaret Hamilton".

Ms Hamilton almost always signed lengthy personal inscriptions.   She also employed an assistant to sign some of her photos which are easily detectible by the “experienced eye”.  One thing to look for is the secretary (and forgers) will only sign her name or very short inscriptions.  Unfortunately many autograph dealers sell the “secretarial” as authentic.   WE have collected Oz autographs for over 25 years and are very knowledgeable of both the genuine and secretarial autographs.

Amazing collection of Frank Sinatra signed/autographed items from the estate of Jazz Singer Eileen Barton. Sinatra and Barton had a very long friendship and worked together several times during their careers. Please see Eileen Barton info below.  

We recently acquired a number of items that came from the Eileen Barton estate. This particular piece is detailed in item #1 below. A magnificent vintage autographed Frank Sinatra Family photo, circa 1953-55.  Imagine, toddler Frank Jr, teenager Nancy, and baby Tina.  The only Sinatra family signed photo we have ever seen in over 25 years collecting.

1. A vintage John Engstead embossed 8x10 photo of Frank Sinatra’s family (at the time). His wife Nancy; “To Eileen best of everything love & best wishes  Nancy", also son Frankie , daughter Tina and daughter Nancy have all signed.

Other separately sold item include a 1953 Contract and Signed glossy 8x10 of Frank Sinatra around the late 1940’s/ early 1950’s. Inscribed in black fountain pen ink: “To Dear Eileen in appreciation for your admiration with fondest regards Frank”.  See below under Recommended Products

Eileen Barton, singer: born New York 24 November 1929; died West Hollywood, California 27 June 2006.

The phrase for an unexpected guest, "If knew you were coming, I'd've baked a cake", has now passed into the language, but few would know that it originated with the singer Eileen Barton, who topped the US charts for three months with the song in 1950.

She was an excellent singer, working with Frank Sinatra, Buddy Greco and Nat "King" Cole, but, despite her father's being a successful music publisher, she never recorded enough strong original material and she will be best remembered for her cheerful novelty success.

Eileen Barton was born in Brooklyn in 1924 to Benny and Elsie Barton, who had a song-and-dance act in vaudeville. As soon as she could speak, her parents developed a routine for the song "Ain't Misbehavin' ", which led to her working two shows a day at the Palace Theatre on Broadway. When she was seven, she was featured as the mischievous child, Jolly, on Milton Berle's radio show for CBS and she appeared in the film Show for Sale (1937) as Eileen "Jolly" Barton. In 1941, she was in the chorus for the Broadway musical Best Foot Forward, and then toured in Angels in the Wings with Elaine Stritch.

In 1943, Ben Barton passed Frank Sinatra an exceptional new song, "Close to You", and suggested that Sinatra finance a publishing company with him in charge. Over the years, Barton Music published many of Sinatra's hits including "Nancy with the Laughing Face" and his signature tune "Put Your Dreams Away". Ben Barton's association with Sinatra helped Eileen's career, as she appeared on his Paramount shows in New York in 1944, and often sang with him on television and radio. They appeared together on the radio show Lucky Strike Presents Your Hit Parade, and several duets with Sinatra survive including "Together" and "Come Out Wherever You Are".

Bob Merrill, who was to write "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" and many Guy Mitchell hits, gave her "If I Knew You Were Comin', I'd've Baked a Cake". The record soared to the top of the charts and she beat off competition from Georgia Gibbs and Ethel Merman, but the best-selling versions in the UK were by Gracie Fields and Eve Young.

Barton followed her hit with "Dixieland Ball, "May I Take Two Giant Steps", "You Brought a New Kind of Love for Me" and "En-Thus-E-Uz-E-As-M (Enthusiasm)", but she didn't repeat that success. In 1951, she covered Johnnie Ray's "Cry" and did reasonably well in 1953 with "Sway (Quien Sera)"and "Pretend".

As with many singers, her career faltered with the advent of rock'n'roll. In 1962 she appeared in a dire Jayne Mansfield film, Promises! Promises! Shortly before she died, she assisted with a 2-CD set of her recordings.

Original 1952 Signed Contract

Here is a piece of entertainment history. A 1952 William Morris Agency contract signed by their famous client Frank Sinatra, his Genuine signature, NOT a proxy as with many of his letters and some insignificant contracts.  This was for an appearance at the Chez Paree in Montreal, Canada. The contract was to perform at the club for a period of ten days beginning on February 6, 1953 (58 years ago).    In addition, attached to the contract is quite a significant rider/memo which states, “Please gives this copy to Frank Sinatra he will need it to cross the border”.  Also attached is a cover sheet detailing his compensation.

An incredible contract in excellent condition with all associated documents of great importance to the legendary singer in 1953, the beginning of his great comeback following his academy award role in “From Here to Eternity” released that same year.   A nice clean, well preserved document, with fantastic bold signature during the most critical juncture of his career and original rider and cover letter included indeed makes this a museum quality piece.

Fabulous vintage oil on canvas on what appears to be the streets of Paris.   Signed on lower right but cannot make out the full signature (if anyone recognizes please email us).    Appears to be from early 20^th century, around 1910-1920.  Beautiful Victorian style frame.  Excellent detail.  While removing the painting form the frame to inspect I noticed that it has been in the frame for apparently many years as the top exhibited a nice blue sky. Hence, the colors under the decades of dirt would be incredible after a professional cleaning.    I am looking to have this piece researched as I am certain the quality and skill exhibited is from a highly listed and recognized artist.

We acquire two paintings from this same artist so you can look at the signature on the other one and maybe will recognize it. The first name begins with “A”.  The last name starts with either “da” and then I think an upper case “V” or possible “cla” depending on which painting you are looking at.  My leaning is that It is “da” a common beginning for French names.

Most likely an illustration for one of the many magazine covers he did for such national publications as Cosmopolitan, Saturday Evening Post, American, This Week, Field and Stream and True to name a few.  This exquisite portrait of a military or ship's officer and young woman embracing in a ship's cabin is one of the best I have seen from him. Rich colors, exceptional detail, and obvious overwhelming passion.    A beauty with universal appeal.    Signed lower right. See bio below.

Courtney Allen
Painter

1896-1969

Courtney Allen was born in Norfolk, Virginia. At age fifteen he quit high school and moved to Dayton, Ohio where he worked in a commercial art studio to help family finances. He later moved to Washington D.C where he took a job with the art department of the former Washington Times and began his formal instruction at the Corcoran Art School. He also studied at the National School of Fine and Applied Art and at the National Academy in New York City.

In the summer of 1919 he enrolled at the Hawthorne School of Art in Provincetown on Cape Cod, to study the Hawthorne method. He returned in 1920 and 1921 to study with W.H. Bicknell, creating a series of Provincetown paintings and etchings. It was the beginning of a long relationship with the Outer Cape.

In 1921 he met his wife, Erma who had also been a student at the Corcoran School of Art. They were married in April 1924 and had one child, Elizabeth. Beginning in 1927, the Allen's returned faithfully every summer to their Truro house where Courtney painted. Allen was a friend of Norman Rockwell, who's work he greatly admired. He was also a contemporary of artists John Whorf, Edward Penfield, and Jerry Farnsworth, the renowned portrait artist who ran a painting school in North Truro. Erma and Courtney collected the work of these and other Cape Cod artists during this time.

During the late 1920's they lived in New Rochelle and Allen established himself as a New York City commercial artist and one of the top illustrators in the country. Over the next thirty years, his illustrations appeared in many books and periodicals including Cosmopolitan, Colliers, The Saturday Evening Post, American, This Week, Field and Stream and True magazines . His method of illustration usually began with photographs of models dressed in costume, then an oil painting on board, which was subsequently photographed and used to illustrate stories in the many magazines that commissioned his work. Some of the paintings were full color, some in shades of gray, black and white so that they would reproduce well when color illustrations were not needed.
During WWII, Allen was drafted as an artist and spent the war years painting camouflage, in addition to more than 400 charcoal drawings of hospitalized war veterans.

Erma and Courtney moved to Truro permanently in 1951. The last twenty years of his life were devoted to expanding his versatile artistic gifts. Although he still illustrated books for Boston publishers, Allen was increasingly drawn to three-dimensional art forms. Allen transitioned naturally from his highly realistic renderings in two-dimension to carvings of waterfowl and documentary models. His sculptural and illustration works can be seen locally in the Provincetown Pilgrim Monument and Museum, the Provincetown Art Association Museum and the Highland House Museum in Truro, where an entire room is dedicated to Allen, the first President of the Truro Historical Society who as instrumental in creating the museum.

"Simple Simon", 1935

Original Vintage Autographed Cel, 1942-3
"Der Fuhrer's Face" 

This is a really genuine piece of animation history.  An original 1942 Disney cel of Donald Duck for the WWII short "Der Fuhrer's Face".  An exceptionally colorful image of Donald.  Many of these mats that were signed by Walt Disney had the original cel removed at some point.  A major autograph auction house recently sold a signed matt with a reproduced photo of this cell for $3000.  While Original Disney signed cells often realize in excess of $10,000.  For example, a Disney signed cel from "Lady and the Tramp" just sold for $17,000 (Feb 9, 2011).

 A cel, is painted on a separate sheet of plastic celluloid from the background.   This image was originally used in the production of the wartime short "Der Fuhrer's Face" .  It has the Courvoisier label on the reverse.  Walt Disney hired Courvoisier in 1937 to produce his animated cells.  Publicity cels are cels that are created for publicity purposes-- as gifts to important people in the distribution and publicity area. Walt Disney has Autographed the mat to the lower right of the cell in bold red artist pencil. An amazing perfect Large authentic signature, over 6" wide!! (see image below with quarter for size perspective). Also, has the red 'Original WDP' ink stamp

The back of the frame is still sealed and although paper has become aged and brittle, has not been removed for several decades.  Also, note the original Courvoisier label on the reverse indentifying this as an original cell actually used in the production of  "Der Fuhrer's Face" (the ink handwriting of the title on the label has faded but can still make it out).

Like most collectors and art dealers I often get hung up on “artist value” based on book and database listings and as a result the actual “visual value” often gets lost in the transactional process.   I cannot count the times I have talked to other dealers who admit they too often end up buying a “dead” painting just because it was a particular artist and in the end they are unable to sell it because of its lack of aesthetic desirability.   My own area of collecting is 19th century seascapes and portraits.

However, once in a while a piece out of my realm is so incredibly captivating, I cannot resist. Because the need to sell it will be overshadowed by the gratification of displaying it in my home or office for maybe several years will never be a source of anxiety.  As a matter of fact, I have a number of paintings I actually removed off my website because the pleasure they provided evolved and eventually outweighed the financial benefits. The description below is from the dealer I acquired it from.   However, I did not find much on “J Clark” or “John Clark” of the 20th century time period.  However, this seascape is so breathtaking, that a guide book or database of listed artists was irrelevant.  You don’t need a book to determine the brilliance in this painting.  It either “moves you” or it doesn’t.  And if this artist doesn’t have many “listings” today, how long before you think that is going to change?

I could go on and on about this amazing seascape art, but I'll let the images do the talking.  The below is from the original dealer.

This piece is a RARE FIND due to its size, age and beauty and is an original painting signed by VERY WELL listed American artist John Clark (20th Century) who is listed in the Davenport, Artprice and various other art indexes. This artist is a very well known Contemporary New York artist who is known for doing Early Genres. It is original Oil on Panel Board painting that depicts a beautiful Coastal Ocean Seascape with a nice American Sail Ship or Clipper of Frigate ship of an early time period with the American Flag waving and blowing in the wind at the back of the sail. This painting was done with great detail in both color and clarity with distinctive characteristics of the beautiful open seas on the horizon and giving a depiction of a beautiful ship with large and tall masts with very fine detail of the ropes and the front sails at the bow. It was well done with beautiful brush strokes and nice shades of tonalism in the sky with beautiful shading and reflections of the sun haze coming through off the waters down to the finest details of even the ropes and sail masts. This is a beautiful Genre of Early American sailing into the sunrise or sunset and was done with such fine detail.

Here it is !  The title card I've waited 30 years to acquire.  This card is so rare it is estimated that for every 10-15 one sheets that appear on the market for this film, ONLY ONE Title Card surfaces for collectors to have a shot at acquiring.   For whatever reason the lobby cards for this film are highly scarce, and the title card even more so. As a matter of fact the largest movie poster auction house in the country has NEVER had a title card for sale.

There are so many reasons I love this title card.  The fact George Reeves was the quintessential Superman is obvious, But in addition, the colors, graphics and artwork are just spectacular.  And, this particular card is in quite exceptional condition with no holes, tears, stains or other damage. Only the slightest signs of use and vintage toning, just what you’d expect to see on an ORIGINAL lobby card from this era.   And, the colors are about as bright and spectacular as you will ever see!

This is the only one we have acquired in 30 years of collecting and only one of a handful we have ever seen for sale.  A stunning piece of Hollywood History!  And a priceless acquisition for any Superman or George Reeves fan/collector!

"Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man", 1943
Original Vintage Universal Horror Window card (14 x14.5")
Starring Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney

Here is one of the most highly desired and Very Scarce horror titles to appear on the market.  With two of the three primary horror legends, Bela Lugosi and Lon Chaney. You can just hear collectors drool when any original Frankenstein paper like this becomes available.  Of all the posters for this title, the Window Card is the most elusive only appearing on the market a handful of times over the last 20 years.  While the largest movie poster auction house has sold three one sheets, they have only sold one window card which had extensive restoration including in-painting  in the Title.  The artwork on this window card is incredible, the two legendary monsters battling with the unforgettable Maria Ouspenskaya looking on.

This window card is in used condition with fold line, border tears and tape on back.  Also, the blank top and bottom borders have been trimmed.  That said the image area is in very good condition.  This window card has been professionally paperbacked by the best in the business. As you can see in the image it has excess backing outside the window card borders which adds extra protection to the fragile borders. The paper backing is of the highest quality.  Rising Museum Matboard is the natural choice when the highest levels of conservation is required for the protection and preservation of artwork. Made with 100% cotton fibers and the purest form of cellulose. This matboard is 100% acid and linen-free.   SEE the Before and After images below.  You can see where the most noticable flaws have been restored yet the card has maintained its original vintage appearance.

Recommended for valuable works of art, rare and antique documents, items of historical and sentimental importance..  A piece of Hollywood horror history that is not only of utmost appeal but you could be waiting 20 years before you see another gem like it. 

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (Universal, 1943). Window Card (14" X 22"). Two of the mightiest monsters in the Universal Horror franchise met for the first time in this thrill-filled extravaganza. Bela Lugosi finally donned the Frankenstein makeup he had declined years before, and Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role as Larry Talbot, making this one of the favorite films in this classic series.

This lead to a string of multi-monster movies, including House of Frankenstein (1944) and House of Dracula (1945), before the genre came to a close in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948). Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, however, is considered by many to be the finest of the "team-up" films ever made. Written by Curt Siodmak, who had first brought the Wolf Man to life several years earlier, the film starred Bela Lugosi as the Frankenstein Monster, Lon Chaney Jr. as the lycanthropic Larry Talbot, Maria Ouspenskaya as Maleva the Gypsy woman and the scene stealer from the original “Wolfman”.. It is an engaging thrill-ride from beginning to end. Offered here is a beautiful example of the highly desirable window card, showing the principal players in all their gruesome glory.

Original Matthew Brady 1865 Glass Positive Photograph

You have probably seen the photos reproduced from an original glass slide like this.  But, highly unlikely you've ever seen an actual original glass slide.

Very Rare and historically important, original, 1865 Glass Lantern Slide Photograph of Confederate Civil War Commanding General Robert E. Lee by Mathew Brady. This exceptionally rare, 1865 Glass Positive Photograph measures approx. 4” x 3 1/4” and is mounted with its original, salmon colored paper labels which read "War For The Union / M. B. Brady" and "National Portrait Gallery / Washington, D. C.".

In 1865 Mathew Brady decided to issue an ill fated series of Glass Lantern Slides produced from the original negatives of his "War For The Union" Stereoview Series. Photo Historians consider this series of Slides to have been a monumental failure which found no market among a general public who no longer wished to view images of War that had been the cause of such personal and national sorrow. The costs associated with the production of the templates for the images in this series of Glass Slides certainly must have contributed to the financial demise of Mathew Brady which occurred shortly after the end of the Civil War and VERY few Slides from this series were ever produced.

 Many longtime Civil War Photography Dealers have never seen examples of Slides from this series and most have never even heard of their existence. One of the most highly respected, long time auctioneers of Historical Photographic material has told us that in over 30 years he has seen less than a handful of examples of Glass Slides from Brady's "War for the Union" Series.

This outstanding, first generation, ca1865 Mathew Brady Glass Lantern Slide portrait of Confederate General Robert E. Lee is in excellent condition. The Image exhibits sharp focus, strong contrast and rich, warm tonality. There is little or no wear to the image and the portrait is both powerful and striking.

Wonderful old cast iron Black Americana Cabin mechanical penny bank. Made in Cromwell, Ct. by J. & E. Stevens c.1885. . Place penny on top front of roof, pull lever and man flips up and kicks penny into bank. The bank measures 3 5/8" tall x 2 7/8" wide x 4 1/4" deep and is in very nice operating condition. The bank is in very nice working condition with nice paint and original coin trap. (see photo's)  VERY NICE!!   GUARANTEED  OLD AND ORIGINAL with No rust,  cracks, breaks or repairs.  And most important, 90-95% of original paint remaining!

Recently, we were able to acquire a beautiful Frank Sinatra signed 8x10" photo that came from his stage manager (who was featured in Autograph Collector Magazine in 1998 about his relationship with Frank Sinatra and the several items he had Frank autograph).  This particular photo has a note on the back stating where it was signed in his presence by Frank Sinatra at Royal Albert Hall, in the UK. The back note was signed by the stage manager .  You die hard Sinatra collectors probably know who he is.  Provenance that far exceeds the opinion of any experts.  I even contacted the stage manager recently and he responded via email  , “It is legit, The photo was signed backstage at Royal Albert Hall, in the UK.”.  

*Also, in person autograph seekers who have ever acquired Sinatra will tell you that he always signed these Tuxedo photos vertically on the white shirt.

Rare and Important Signed Autographed Letter

Incredible Genuine Autographed letter by John Wayne dated November 3, 1976.   John Wayne often had secretaries sign mostly photos for him. However, we have conducted extensive research on this letter and the signature and have concluded this is absolutely his authentic signature.  In addition, this letter is on his heavy personal stationary. Also the letter comes with the original envelop also post dated November 5, 1976 and has "John Wayne" raised embossed on it.   We have never seen a letter from him come in the original post dated, personal stationary envelop in 30 years of collecting.

That said, what makes this an even more extraordinary letter is the very personal content where he mentions his poor health and also Frank Sinatra.  It has often been printed that John Wayne and Frank Sinatra did not have much of a relationship or even a strained relationship after John Wayne punched out Sinatra’s bodyguard in a Las Vegas hotel.  However , this letter contradicts those rumors.

The letter comes from the estate of an Admiral who was personal friends with John Wayne.   A true piece of Hollywood history from the hand of one of its most immortal icons.  Deserving of a museum!  Guaranteed Authentic for Life.

This rarely seen image of all four main Oz characters was signed in person in the mid 1970’s by BOTH Jack Haley (Tin man) and Ray Bolger (Scarecrow) . First time we have seen this image autographed.  Exceptional contrast on this vintage photo.  The person I acquired this from met both Ray Bolger and Jack Haley in the mid 70s and became friends with both.   Jack Haley signs in bold black "Jack Haley Tin Man" and Ray Bolger signs in light blue fountain pen "To Mike from the Scarecrow of Oz Ray Bolger"

Vintage Autographed Photo to WWI General

Absolutely stunning, beautiful 7' x 10 1/4" Harris and Ewing signed photograph of Theodore Roosevelt dated January 19, 1911, and inscribed "To Captain Johnson Hagood, with its best wishes of Theodore Roosevelt, Jan 19th 1911".  Hagood would later command a brigade in WWI and rise ot the rank of Majoe General. 

Photo is a large 7x10 1/4", not the typical 4x6" photos usually found from Roosevelt. The image is sharp and crisp. It is on matt (lightly and could easily be removed) with Hagood's signature on the back.  One of the nicest we've ever seen!

Conway's stamp on the digital image is of course NOT on the original photo.

1939 Wire Photo - Brave LOU GEHRIG w/ALS Disease Report

Here’s one of the well known images of Lou Gehrig captured in this Vintage 1939 Wire Photo issued by the Associated Press on June 20th, 1939. It shows this man who knew he was going to die, putting on a cheerful smile for the cameras as he waves to the crowd. This fascinating image of Lou was taken at the airport after his visit to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where he was diagnosed with the terminal disease that would bear his name. Lou is shown holding the doctor’s report, sadly in this case, his death sentence. Photograph measures 8” x 10-3/4” and has editorial crop markings as it was used in newspaper publication at the time when the news on baseball’s Iron Man and his condition was highly anticipated !

If this is not a true piece of sports history, than I don't know what else is.  Lou Gehrig in his prime showcasing his talents with a rookie, that would soon evolve into his own, studying Gehrig’s every move.  Not much else needs to be said. A special find!

A Vintage 1936 ORIGINAL News Service Photo issued by International News Photos depicting Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees. Original press stamp is light but on the reverse of this 8” x 10” photo. Note that Rookie Joe DiMaggio is behind the cage as he studies the great one before taking his turn. Photo has surface creasing throughout the obverse but the contrast and clarity are strong on this really nice shot of Lou doing what he did best - taking them deep !

1946 Ticket Stub WORLD SERIES Red Sox FENWAY PARK

A Vintage 1946 World Series ticket stub from Fenway Park. Stub measuring slightly larger than 2-1/4” x 4” and was for Game 5 that was played on Friday, October 11, 1946. It was a jovial day for the Boston Red Sox that afternoon as 35,982 fans saw the Sox and Ted Williams defeat the St. Louis Cardinals 6 to 3 to take a three games to two Series lead. Unfortunately they would be victimized by Enos Slaughter and his ‘Mad Dash’ in that Fall Classic. Ticket has a rough left side from being torn by the gate clerk at the time but no other creases on this stub.

ORIGINAL Vintage 1928 BABE RUTH Home Run Candy WRAPPER

Here is a true, genuine piece of Sports History! VERY RARE Original Vintage 1928 Babe Ruth “Home Run" Wrapper featuring the Bambino. One of the short-lived candy products that the Babe backed in an attempt to combat the Curtis Candy Co. and their "Baby Ruth" candy bars (Babe unsuccessfully sued the Curtiss company for the use of what he felt was an infringement of his name). Ask any seasoned memorabilia collector or prominent sports auction house and they will tell you – ALL Babe Ruth candy bar wrappers in any condition are RARE. Do not be fooled. (WARNING - beware of the countless cheap reproductions being offered on paper that are deceptively made to look old).

The Ruth wax wrapper was virtually unknown to the hobby until the late 80’s when a small find of 14 wrappers made its way into the hobby. Several others including the previously ‘lone’ specimen owned by legendary collector, the late-Barry Halper’s have made its way to auction since. This offered example is special in that it is the RARER “variation” of the one that is seen in auctions from time to time. The difference is distinctive, most noticeable the absence of the text around the wide outer border.

This 5” x 7-3/8” wrapper is all-original. It is in about very good to excellent in condition with the usual fold lines and crinkling associated with such a piece, Overall the colors are solid and the specimen displays in a condition far better than its technical grade. As with all items, we sell, it is 100% Guaranteed Vintage and Original. This is a quality Ruthian keepsake and a real tough variation in ANY condition !

1918 Original Photo BABE RUTH Red Sox WORLD SERIES

Extremely scarce photo from the most prized period in Baseball and Babe Ruth History, as a Red Sox pitcher.  Amazing detail and clarity on the vintage sports treasure!

A Vintage 1918 ORIGINAL Photograph depicting Babe Ruth of the Boston Red Sox as he prepares for Game 1 of the 1918 World Series against the Chicago Cubs. The kid from Baltimore was already regarded as the league’s best left-hander getting the assignment to start the opener at Wrigley Field. But it was also that season of 1918 when he emerged as the most powerful slugger in the dead-ball era, splitting his time as a regular in the Red Sox line-up, hitting a league-leading 11 home runs !

This photograph of Ruth captured in a pitching pose, warming up along the Wrigley Field sidelines has been cropped to its current dimensions for publication use over the years measuring approximately 6” x 7”. There are editorial news inks shading the background of the head portion which was done to achieve contrast in newsprint publication when a close-up of Ruth’s face was needed by a photo editor. Reverse has some editorial and publication notes as well as several publication date stamps including the one from SEP 05 1918 when Game 1 of the Fall Classic was played. It remains a RARE period 1st generation TYPE I photograph of Ruth in one of his most dominant performances in the World Series: pitching a 1-0 complete game shutout which set up the Red Sox to their eventual Championship in 1918. It would mark the last World Series the Red Sox would win for 86-years as they would do the unthinkable, selling him to the Yankees – and hence “The Birth of the Curse” !

* Serious collectors know that Original Babe Ruth photos as a Red Sox player are extremely Scarce and Rarely ever appear on the market.

Here it is!  The most spectacular Holiday film of all time. The original one sheet poster with all it's terrific artwork and graphics.  Nice condition with some minor flaws and wear.

Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye play army buddies who find success as a song-and-dance team. They fall for a pair of beautiful sisters (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen) and follow them to a Vermont lodge, where they discover their old army general is the owner. Irving Berlin contributes the memorable score (though the title tune had previously been introduced in Holiday Inn more than a decade earlier). In 1953, Fred Astaire decided to "retire" from films leaving a hole in the cast of White Christmas. The part was then re-written for Donald O'Connor, but he also bailed on the project. Finally, in a move that saved the project, Danny Kaye was selected as a zero-hour replacement. Kaye and co-star Bing Crosby are featured on this festive one sheet with Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen, from a Christmas favorite for the last 55 years!  Offered here is the wonderful one sheet, featuring the four stars in all their glory.

The poster is in lovely condition.  Just minor border wear. some corner pinholes and a small chip out of the top left border
