Buffalo Bill Wild West Show Poster (circa 1891)

Spectacular 19th Century Buffalo Bill Wild West Show Poster.   Very rare as this is the only one of this style we have ever seen offered for sale.  Terrific artwork with Indians and William Cody himself on the ground with pistol!   A gorgeous historical poster!

Buffalo Bill (Circa 1891). Wild West Show Poster (28" X 42").
With an engaging, colorful and magnificent show (and poster), William F. Cody (a.k.a. Buffalo Bill) became one of the most iconic figures of the Old West. Before Cody went into show business he had a number of occupations, including: trapper, Colorado "Fifty-Niner," Pony Express rider, wagon master, stagecoach driver, Civil War soldier, and even hotel manager. He was even awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 1872 for his role as a scout for the United States Army (1868-1872). Cody's Wild West Shows were an enormous success from their debut in 1872 through 1913, and as seen on this spectacular stone litho rendering, audiences were treated to unforgettable, awe-inspiring performances. With the passing of Buffalo Bill in 1917, a uniquely American entertainment style would fade into the annals of history. The poster has never been folded, and professional restoration has addressed a tear in the bottom left that extends into the artwork, and chips in the bottom and right border. The linen has been trimmed to the border of the poster (as was often done with linen backing 40 or  years ago) . Don't miss your chance to own a special piece of Old West nostalgia. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
