Meinhardt Raabe (aka Coroner in Wizard of OZ) (1915-2010)
Original Vintage Autographed 9x11" Color Photo
Meinhardt Raabe was one of the last surviving members of the Wizard of OZ. Three is a great autographed photo as the "Coroner" where he signs on the "Wicked Witch's" Death Certificate. I met Mr Raabe at a collector show about 25 years ago and acquired this signed photo directly from him. (not we also have a couple black & white 8x10" versions of this photo he also signed.). * This photo is actually a copy of an original 1939 lobby card movie poster actually used to promote this iconic film in 1939.
At about 107 centimetres (42 in), or three feet, six inches, tall, he played the role of the coroner in The Wizard of Oz in 1939. Raabe, however, went uncredited in the role, which lasted only 13 seconds. In the film, the coroner confirms the death of the Wicked Witch of the East, with Raabe's lines being:
As coroner, I must aver
I thoroughly examined her
And she's not only merely dead
She's really, most sincerely dead!
