Stagecoach, 1939
Original Vintage One Sheet Movie Poster (27x41")
Starring John Wayne

The original 1939 one sheet sold at auction in 2007 for nearly $78,000 .    And the artwork was not as desirable as this 1944 re-release one sheet.. Spectacular colors and artwork including great image of John Wayne.  As a relatively unknown struggling "B" Actor in 1939 , the studio never included an image of the soon to be movie icon on the 1939 movie poster.   As a matter of fact, the studio executives did NOT want John Wayne in this leading role.  It was John Ford who fought tooth and nail for The Duke.    And this would be the movie to jettison the Duke intro superstardom!   A historic and very rare poster you're not likely to see again as only 2 or 3 have appeared on the market in the past 20 years....As a matter of fact, based on auction records, it  is even more Rare than the 1939 one sheet that sold for $78,000 in 2007...  Excellent condition and this gem has been professionally linen backed..

Stagecoach (United Artists, R-1944). One Sheet (27" X 41").

John Ford's classic would turn John Wayne from a struggling "B" Western star into a household name. The highly influential film, about a group of strangers making a dangerous journey across the plains via stagecoach, would redefine the genre by presenting a character-driven Western that was more than just a shoot-'em-up. Many consider this gorgeous reissue one sheet, which features an image of Wayne, to be one of the best on the title. Excellent condition and has been professionally linen backed.   Probably your only chance to ever own this gem!

Below is Roger Ebert's review of this John Ford Masterpiece..  I particularly like the very last line:

"Stagecoach" is a film in which two great careers were renewed. Although he had appeared before in many films, as an extra, a stuntman and then an actor in B films, this was John Wayne's first starring role in a film by John Ford. For Ford, it was a return after some years to a genre about which his ideas had grown--the genre in which he would make many of his greatest films. With Ford's clout as a director and Wayne's clout as a star, they would make iconic films and establish themselves as one of the legendary partnerships in cinema.

You will meet a prostitute with a heart of gold, and an evil banker.."
