FINAL SHOOT !
A Vintage 1980 Photograph depicting Marilyn Monroe as captured by George Barris (1924-2016) in 1962 in what would be her last photo shoot. The New York City photographer who grew up in Manhattan's Lower East Side carries the distinction of being the last photographer to conduct an official photo shoot with Monroe, just a month before her death. Barris who shot for Parade & Cosmopolitan Magazine first met and photographed Marilyn in New York in 1954 where she was on location for the film, "The Seven Year Itch". The two became close friends. While collaborating on an upcoming book with Marilyn, Barris photographed Marilyn during a photo session that took place on July 13, 1962 in the Santa Monica Beach area in CA. Sadly, this would be Marilyn's FINAL photo shoot as she tragically died less than a month later on August 3rd, 1962.

The offered photo was one made by Barris himself in 1980.  Reverse has his photographers credit and date, along with several date stamps of when this exact photo was used for various publications.   *The 1980s date stamps also notes an end of an era, the wonderful experience of look, touch, feel and smell, before hardcopy photographs have been almost universally replaced by digital media.

This was one of the terrific close ups of Marilyn which captured her barefooted as she looks straight into Barris'
camera. Of the inner circle of friends that Marilyn knew personally, Barris was one of the last to have seen her alive. This is an outstanding Marilyn..

An IMPORTANT and Extremely RARE, Vintage 1962 Photograph produced from the original negative in 1980 depicting Marilyn Monroe as captured by George Barris (1922 -2016). The New York City photographer who grew up in Manhattan's Lower East Side carries the distinction of being the last photographer to conduct an official photo shoot with Monroe, less than a month before her death. Barris is one of the last people still alive who knew Marilyn personally.

When World War II broke out, George was the official army photographer from 1942-1945 and was assigned to General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s victory homecoming celebration. George created an album of the events. He received a special album autographed by General Eisenhower.

This is an exceptional Marilyn photograph, one dating to her final photo shoot.  This offered example is a 1962 Barris photograph published form the original negative in 1980.   Note:  Modern day prints of his Marilyn photos sell on his website for $2500 which is maintained by his daughter!  This 1980 version was published by George Barris over 38 years ago.   And is one of the best images he took of Marilyn.
