Extraordinary Three Stooges RARE Type I 1935 Original Vintage Photo
About 18 years ago I was fortunate to acquire a group of extraordinary ORIGINAL 1930s/40s Three Stooges publicity photo stills from the stepson of Jules White (Three Stooges Director). The reason they were so special is because they were period photos captured, processed and used at that very moment the Three Stooges completed and promoted their latest Columbia shorts films. Many actually ending up in the hands of Moe, Larry or Curly for approval and/or keepsake, leaving their DNA all over them… Amazing Excellent condition for this 83 year old photo!
Most early Three Stooges Type I Period Photos were destroyed, lost or damaged. 99.9% of what is on the market today are later reproductions. Of the .01% that are Period Type I Originals, 90% of those are from the 1940s. This is a Very Rare early 1935 photographic treasure capturing a terrific scene of the Three from their shorts or publicity event.
BUT, what makes this Amazing find extra special is it is the first one we have ever seen that has the original complete Associated Press News Snipe on the back. Why this is so exciting is it is the link to unquestionable provenance and authenticity with exact dates (5/5/1935) the photo was used by news agencies for publication. These news agency snipes were usually torn or worn off by the time they aged to 60-80 years old..
It also is stamp dated May 13, 1935.
The best Three Stooges photo we’ve ever acquired in 38 years collecting. You won’t see something of this caliber, this Rare, this extraordinary on eBay or Amazon… And this is the only Type I Stooges photos we've had in several years.

Vintage gelatin silver, single weight, glossy photo. An unrestored photo with good color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as very light edge wear, and unobtrusive smudges. There is an Associated Press snipe on the verso.
