RARE Original Vintage Rock Roll Country Concert Poster Live Performance, 1970
 

Just Acquired (along with three other Rare concert posters).  Very Rare concert poster for a Live Ricky Nelson show on January 31, 1970.  With a great mage of Nelson..  Based on our research this is the first time this poster has ever surfaced on the market.   100% Original UN-restored Excellent condition.

Here is part of a description from a major auction that deals in Concert Posters:
"Ricky / Rick Nelson hardly ever turns up on a vintage 50's-60's concert poster; he either didn't tour much, or his management didn't believe in using posters. We can count on one hand the number of Nelson concert posters we've ever seen from those two decades combined. And we've never seen another one of these, either.

So it goes without saying that Ricky Nelson concert posters are very rare. The closest we've come before this was a 1980 "Rick" Nelson poster where he was opening for Anne Murray. Rick wasn't touching the charts by then; here, in the early 60's, Ricky was a veritable hit-making machine. He was just coming off a huge double-sided smash from this spring & summer, "Travelin' Man" b/w "Hello Mary Lou." The A-side reached #1 on Billboard's charts and the B-side attained #9, and they remain his two most recognizable and career-defining songs to this day."

The Rick Nelson Show at Salem Armory Auditorium (1970). Very Fine. Concert Window Card (14" X 22"). Rock and Roll.
Offered in this lot is a concert window card advertising for The Rick Nelson Show performing with Morning Reign and Looking Glass at Salem Armory Auditorium in Salem Oregon on January 31, 1970. An unrestored window card with bright color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as slight edge wear, light creases, or minor surface scuffs.

Death:
Nelson died in a plane crash on New Year's Eve 1985, flying from Guntersville, Alabama, to Dallas, Texas, for a concert. The plane he was on, a Douglas DC-3, had a history of mechanical problems. All seven passengers, including his girlfriend Blair, died. Only the two pilots survived.

Nelson's funeral took place at the Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Cemetery, on January 6, 1986, and he was privately buried in the Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills Cemetery, in Los Angeles. His estate was bequeathed to his children, and he did not provide for ex-wife Kris Nelson.
