Fantastic Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum
Super Rare Vintage Lobby Card for this early 1933 adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" that Paramount loaded up with some of the biggest stars of the day. And as you can see from the enlargeable image abovew, extraordinary graphics for these rarely seen original (nearly 90 year old) vintage lobby cards. One of the Best cards of the set with striking image of Alice and the infamous Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum !

Condition: Very good. Card has some corner pinholes not affecting the stunning image area. Right and left borders have been slightly trimmed by a mere .125" not affecting any image area and not even noticable unless you are told it is there.
Paramount’s high-spectacle take on Alice. They crammed as many of their contracted players and talent into this thing as they could. As for the cast, this is where Paramount shot the moon. The movie acted as a kind of who’s who of the studio’s contract stars. The film opens with a four-minute curtain call-style credits sequence. A storybook’s pages turn and with each one, we see one of Wonderland’s characters, which then fades into the headshot and name of actor who plays them. A lot of these people you won’t recognize unless you’re very steeped in 1930s cinema. But some of these people are, or would become, major stars. Gary Cooper plays the White Knight; star comedian W.C. Fields played Humpty Dumpty; a very young Cary Grant in a massive costume and puppet head plays the Mock Turtle. You’d never know it was him if not for the credits.

It may have slight edge wear, light creases, pinholes, minor scuffs The left and right borders have been scantily trimmed in the border but not into the image or text areas. There is painted writing on the verso. That said, a very colorful, exceptionally designed and Rare vintage lobby card.
Paramount threw all that it could into this epic Pre-code adaptation of Lewis Carroll's curious children's tales. They brought in the screenwriting talents of the great Joseph L. Mankiewicz and William Cameron Menzies, and spent five months cycling through 7,000 suitors for the role of Alice, which included a young Betty Grable, Ida Lupino, and Paulette Goddard among the throngs. Charlotte Henry won the part, of course, and played opposite everyone from Gary Cooper to Louise Fazenda, but still the studio lost its shirt at the box office - perhaps having something to do with the fact that the principal stars were basically unrecognizable under the fantastic makeup and costuming.
This ambitious adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic features an all-star cast, including Charlotte Henry as Alice, Gary Cooper as the White Knight, Cary Grant as the Mock Turtle, W.C. Fields as Humpty Dumpty, Sterling Holloway as the Frog, Alison Skipworth as the Duchess, and Edward Everett Horton as the Mad Hatter, to name just a few.
In this particular lobby card is a spectacular image of "Alice" and two of the most memorable and scary characters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. An article on this film highlights these two creepy characters as follows: "And perhaps the scariest characters, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, are pasty, babyish figures with beady eyes and enormous mouths." Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum were played by Roscoe Karnsand Jack Oakie accordingly.
