This Gun for Hire, Alan Ladd Veronica Lake Vintage Lobby Card

$295.00

"This Gun for Hire", 1945
Original Vintage Lobby Card Movie Poster (11x14")
Starring Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd

In 1945 Paramount Studios re-released, after only three years, this immensely popular film noir classic with two of the biggest stars of that era.   As a matter of fact, Ladd and Lake were relatively unknown stars just three years prior when this film was released in 1942.   These 1945 lobby cards are actually much more Rare then the 1942 release lobby cards.   For example, one of the major movie poster auction houses has sold 17 of the 1942 release cards over the past 10 years.  However, they have only sold ONE of these 1945 cards.   In addition, the 1945 re-release cards have much better graphics and better close-up scenes of the two main stars.  This particular card was NOT part of the 1942 release lobby card set.   It was apparent Paramount was capitalizing on the new super stardom of Ladd and Lake.   Card is in excellent condition.

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, R-1945). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Here's a real treat! One of the best cards from the extremely hard-to-find 1945 re-release lobby set for this film noir classic. Veronica Lake and Alan Ladd heat up the screen in this tale written by Graham Greene. Alan Ladd, as the cruel protagonist, received fourth billing on the film, but was the true star of the picture. For Veronica Lake, this was the second film she made sporting her peek-a-boo hairstyle which soon became her trademark. Star billing has been accorded to Ladd for the reissue, replacing the originally top-billed Robert Preston
