Scrooge A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Original Movie Lobby Card (11" x 14") 1935
Starring Seymour Hicks

Before Reginald Owen in the 1938 "A Christmas Carol", there was Seymour Hicks in 1935, who was the first theatrical Scrooge.  Here is a Very Rare lobby card for that 1935 adaptation.  And based on our research no movie poster auction house has ever offered ANY lobby card or any paper for this 1935 Scrooge version.  Very good condition.  * See enlargeable image above..

Scrooge is a 1935 British fantasy film directed by Henry Edwards and starring Seymour Hicks, Donald Calthrop and Robert Cochran. Hicks appears as Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser who hates Christmas. It was the first sound version of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, not counting a 1928 short subject that now appears to be lost. Hicks had previously played the role of Scrooge on the stage many times beginning in 1901, and again in a 1913 British silent film version.  Probably most fitting to have the first theatrical adaption of Charles Dickens novel to be mad
e in England.
