Note:   In 1946  Columbia Pictures decided to issue Two One-Sheet movie posters to promote this iconic film featuring Rita Hayworth,  the undisputed Sex Goddess of the 1940s.   Style A and style B.  This one we are offering is Style A.   The style B with a larger image of Rita with a cigarette in her hand is one of the holy grails of vintage movie poster collectors.  In March 2014 the style B one sheet sold for $77, 675!
That said, this Style A showcases stunning large artwork of a gorgeous Rita in the lower half and the top half is the film's most iconic scene, "The Slapin the Face" and is also coveted by collectors for its Rarity and gorgeous artwork.
In the first of their two face slap exchanges Glenn Fored slaps Rita.
She returned the favor when Rita Hayworth slapped birthday boy Glenn Ford in GILDA ('46) and broke two of his teeth. He held his place until the take was finished.

Hence, we can't tell you how excited we are for the first time in our 42 years collecting historical movie artifacts, to have acquired this gorgeous style A one sheet and be able to offer it to you for a Fraction of what the Style B sells for!

Side Note: Although Rita Hayworth, like Marilyn Monroe, was considered a sex goddess, that’s where the comparison ends.     Unlike Marilyn, Rita Hayworth had unlimited talent!    What many people forget is Rita did her own dancing on a number of her films and could hold her own with any of the greats including Fred Astaire.

Gilda (Columbia, 1946). Folded, Very Fine. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford are depicted in one of the more dramatic scenes in Gilda on this great one sheet for the film. Directed by Charles Vidor, Gilda is a beautiful motion picture with an iconic performance from Hayworth, and this poster is always a big hit with fans and collectors. The poster has slight edge and fold wear and minor fold separations. On the verso is a single strip of cellophane tape.   That said, this one sheet is in particularly amazing condition for its 76 years!

Rita Hayworth, George Macready, and Glenn Ford are the players in a torrid love-hate triangle in this voyeuristic film noir from director Charles Vidor. Hayworth is Gilda, caught between her new husband (Macready) and her former flame (Ford), against the backdrop of a Buenos Aires casino. This is the film that sealed Hayworth as screen's ultimate femme fatale, with her signature moment singing (or most likely lip-syncing) "Put the Blame on Mame," swathed in the now iconic black satin gown by designer Jean Louis (it even has its own Wikipedia page) and long, sensual gloves. For the day, the film's erotic overtones pushed the limits of the Production Code. Authenticity was important to Vidor, so much so that when Hayworth slaps Ford on both cheeks, she actually did hit him, resulting in two broken teeth. Posters from this film are highly sought after for the lovely images of Ms. Hayworth.   A great opportunity to own an Original "GILDA" one sheet and NOT have to pay $77,000 !
