The Grapes of Wrath (20th Century Fox, 1940). Very Fine-. Trimmed Title Lobby Card (10.5" X 14")
Nobel prize-winning author John Steinbeck's powerful novel about the devastating effects of the Depression and the nightmare of the dust bowl on a generation of Americans was brilliantly brought to the big screen by director John Ford. Henry Fonda turns in a career-making performance as a former prison inmate returning to his home in the dust storms of Oklahoma. His family has been evicted from their farm and must relocate to California for work and a better life. It's a harrowing tale of the homeless in the Great Depression and is beautifully conveyed on the ad campaign for the film.
From legendary director John Ford comes this enduring tale of the struggle of migrant dust bowl farmers setting out for California during the Great Depression. The quintessential adaptation of John Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, this epic drama of the indomitable human spirit features a defining performance by Henry Fonda as Tom Joad.
John Ford created one of the great classics of the cinema in this searing portrayal of the Joad family's trek to California to escape poverty and persecution. Henry Fonda gives a brilliant performance as Tom Joad, along with Jane Darwell (who won an Academy Award for her performance), John Carradine, and a great supporting cast.
