The Flying Ace (Norman, 1926). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Norman Studios was famous for their poster art and their all black cast films in the 1920s. This beautiful example is for an aviation film starring Lawrence Criner and Kathryn Boyd.
Released in 1926, and starring Lawrence Criner and Kathryn Boyd, this film was a major hit for Norman Studios .. .
Criner plays a World War I fighter pilot who returns home a hero. Peg Reynolds is Criner's sidekick, and together they rescue Boyd and her father from railroad thieves. The film boasts death defying feats in "the greatest airplane thriller ever filmed," but in reality, Norman shot all the airplane scenes with the plane on the ground. Even so, the film was a sensation, and grossed close to $20,000, which in today's money is more than a quarter million dollars, through Norman's distribution efforts.
