Extraordinary Katharine Hepburn Autographed "African Queen" photo with Humphrey Bogart.  

Miss Hepburn was well known for refusing to autograph photos.   But, almost every photo I have ever seen her signature on over the past 39 Years collecting, has been a portrait, never a movie scene photo.   As a matter of fact, I researched the last Ten Signed K Hepburn photos that have sold at auction over the past five years and NOT ONE is a movie scene photo, ALL are portraits.     And to top it off, a photo from one of her major roles, with Humphrey Bogart, of which they were BOTH nominated for Academy Awards ( Bogart WON).    This is simply an Amazing and unprecedented find!   Signed in bold fountain pen or ink flair marker, "To Mr + Mrs Scott Selartte, Katharine Hepburn".   * See enlargeable image above.

NOTE:   One of the last Signed Katharine Hepburn photos to appear ln the market, just sold at auction in December 2018 for $4500.   It was just a portrait photo. 

NOTE:  AFI ranks Humphrey Bogart as the #1 Greatest Actor of all time and Ms Hepburn as the #1 Greatest Actress. 

Note that this vintage still photo has been personally autographed (signed) by Katharine Hepburn! Miss Hepburn was well known for refusing to autograph photos and most other memorabilia. The original recipient was a great fan of hers and wrote her in the late 1970s.  He told her in his letter that he had named his daughter Katharine, and perhaps that swayed her to sign it!  And she did in her unquestionable unique handwriting and signature, highly consistent with her 1970s style signature.  

Also note, I personally communicated with Ms Hepburn in the late 80s and also received a Very Rare Signed photo.  Her personal secretary informed me NO ONE was allowed to sign For Ms Hepburn as many celebrities who used assistants to autograph items. (like Frank Sinatra who NEVER signed anything himself through the mail)..    Hence, any Signed item from Ms Hepburn would be her genuine signature.   I even once had a handwritten note where Ms Hepburn states "I don't sign photos, but if I did it is always to someone", meaning she always personalized photos to the person would kn Rare occasion sign for  ( as she also did for me).

Film Bio:

The African Queen (United Artists, 1952).  Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart (in his only Oscar-winning role) star as the "crazy, Psalm-singing, skinny old maid" and the slovenly steamer tramp who fall in love while sharing a river adventure in East Africa during WWI. John Huston directed from critic James Agee's adaptation of C.S. Forester's story.
John Huston cast Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn in this legendary film as the original odd-couple going on an adventure down an African river to destroy a German battle-ship in World War 1. Bogart would win his only Oscar as the drunken and foul-mouthed river-boat captain, Charlie Allnut. 

September 1914, news reaches the colony German Eastern Africa that Germany is at war, so Reverend Samuel Sayer became a hostile foreigner. German imperial troops burn down his mission; he is beaten and dies of fever. His well-educated, snobbish sister Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn) buries him and leaves by the only available transport, the dilapidated river steamboat 'African Queen' of grumpy Charlie Allnut  (Humphrey Bogart). As if a long difficult journey without any comfort weren't bad enough for such odd companions, she is determined to find a way to do their bit for the British war effort (and avenge her brother) and aims high, as God is obviously on their side: construct their own equipment, a torpedo and the converted steamboat, to take out a huge German warship, the Louisa, which is hard to find on the giant lake and first of all to reach, in fact as daunting an expedition as anyone attempted since the late adventurous explorer John Speakes, but she presses till Charlie accepts to steam up the Ulana, about to brave...
