Harry Houdini (1874-1926)
Original Vintage Signed American Magicians membership card, 1923

JSA Certified

Another extraordinary Harry Houdini piece of history!   An original Society of American Magicians  membership card from 1923 Signed by Harry Houdini in vintage fountain pen ink.  Unlike others we have seen where the signature was over the official club seal making it less legible, this signature is on the light un-obscured background.  A terrific and very rare Houdini signed relic and prized find!     ALSO, unlike most of these that have appeared on the market, this gem is in extraordinary condition being well preserved during its 92 year lifespan.  No creases, punctures, tears, fading or any of the endless possibilities for damage and/or deterioration you would expect from a near 100 year old find like this.  A Beauty!

Original colorful Society of American Magicians membership card, issued to Guernsey Moore for the year 1923, 4 x 2.5, signed in black vintage fountain ink “Harry Houdini” as president of the Society.  In fine condition. Founded on May 10, 1902, in the back room of Martinka's magic shop in New York, the Society expanded under the leadership of Harry Houdini during his term as National President from 1917-1926. Fantastic association between the oldest magical organization in America and the world’s most famous magician.   * ALSO, be sure to check out the Harry Houdini Signed book that originated from the same Martinka's magic shop that the Society of American Magicians was founded in.  * See below under Similar Treasures You May Like.  (*also check out the Original Society of American Magicians letter Signed by Houdini)

* This is Mr. Houdini's GENUINE signature and not that of a secretary.  And it has been certified genuine by the leading autograph authentication company JSA and comes with JSA's full letter of authenticity.

* Note: Guernsey Moore (1874-1925) was a well known artist from PA.  He was born the same year as Houdini and died just two years after becoming a member, the year before Houdini would also pass away from the suspected tragic blow to the stomach.

A Harry Houdini Signed Society of American Magicians Membership Card, 1923. A 'Card of Identification' certifying that Guernsey Moore "Is a member (#549) in good standing until the Annual Meeting in June in 1918," printed in two colors on light gray cardstock (blank verso) and bears a beautiful dark black ink "Harry Houdini" signature, as President, near the bottom,

The verso of this card is titled "The Society of American Magicians, Incorporated Hospital Benefit." Likely a brand new benefit for members of this organization, it states: "If a member in good standing is compelled to undergo Hospital treatment as result of accident or disease (other than venereal, or chronic and incurable) he shall notify the Secretary of the Parent Assembly in New York City, whereupon, the society will pay any Hospital for a period not exceeding five weeks within one year.".

* Note: The rare vintage 1917 Houdini photo shown on the enlargeable image above is NOT included with this Membership card but is available for separate purchase.  See it below under Similar Treasures You May Like.
