Amazing piece of magic and Harry Houdini history!  

Original Harry Houdini Live performance program in Shubert Princess Theatre (Chicago) on April 11, 1926,  just six months before his sudden death that shocked the world!

This is the fourth Houdini promotional program we have owned in our 42 years collecting.  But, it is the nicest and BEST condition one we’ve ever seen.  In amazing pristine condition with just the slightest vintage sepia tone for that added touch of authenticity .   With crisp pages and about 4-5 pages promoting Houdini various stage acts, including an astonishing Large BOLD headline page.  

Also, what makes this near 100 year old historic Program even more fascinating are the several 1926 advertisements of many large stores no longer in business along with a stunning color lithograph perfume ad on the inside cover.  A must have for the serious Houdini collector !

Note:   This was a particularly historic performance as it also featured reformed medium Mrs. Benninghofen.    You can read online the background on their relationship.   To make this amazing find even more exciting is I was able to locate online  images promoting this very performance in Chicago in 1926 including  advertising banners,  photos with Ms Benninghofen and the actual theater marquee.  
And there’s more!   Recently we acquired an ORIGINAL photo of  Mr. Houdini and Mrs. Benninghofen that was apparently from the same photo shoot for this Chicago performance.    The ORIGINAL photo we have is similar to those found online, however this specific pose we have , I could not find anywhere else.   See this photo HERE

Note: Unlike most programs that have a small snippet inside of Houdini performance, this Chicago Program dedicates a FULL page (plus  four partial pages) .   At this point in his career  Houdini became such as larger than life figure venues would aggressively promote his appearances as massive crowd would come for Houdini !

Twelve page program for the week of April 11, 1926 in which Houdini offers “An Entire Evening’s Entertainment,” the three-act show described on four pages. This show took place just months before Houdini’s death in Detroit. Light folds and creases, otherwise Excellent.
