Yankees 1933 Training Camp Team Photo
Very Rare (possibly one of a kind) photo of NY Yankees taken in March of 1933 at training camp in St. Petersburg, FL. A couple visited the training camp and met several of the team members including Babe Ruth. As you can see displayed below is an original photo of the Babe with the couple (that photo with Babe Ruth and couple Not for sale). They even notated on the back the photo was taken "March 20, 1933 at Yankee Training camp.." The team photo offered for sale was acquired the same day at the training camp. The photo may be one of a kind and not used for reproduction. The reason I say this is notice how a few of the team members are not paying attention to the photographer and are actually talking to other team members, including Lou Gehrig? While the babe is in the back behaving, looking into the camera.
The photo is about 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" and in excellent condition. It is on heavier studio quality photo paper.
The
couple would vacation from NY to Tampa/St. Pete area every Spring. This
year (March, 1933) they had the pleasure of attending the Yankees Training Camp
in St. Petersburg and getting some photos including 1 with Babe Ruth between
them. The team photo was acquired from the couple's grandson. Their grandson lives in Citrus County .
