The Babe and his new Manager !

A Simply Spectacular antique 90 year old photo of a young Babe and  new Yankees Manager
Bob Shawkey.  Although we have handled about 25 period babe Ruth photos over the past 39 years this is probably the most exquisite in quality, contrast and clarity Type I Babe Ruth photo we've ever acquired.  Look at the detail in Babe's face!   Most Ruth photos are blurry, scratchy and poor contrast.  This exceptionally rare Beauty is an amazing find!   The best we have found !   And if the pristine appearance isn't enough , take a look at the back and you'll will find extraordinary provenance with the original 1930 studio and dated press release snipe along with the newspaper clipped from that very day.   A particularly exciting historical discovery from nearly a century ago!   You' ll be hard pressed to find it's equivalent (for under $5000).

With the death of the beloved Miller Huggins, the Yankees selected one of their players take over managing the team. Ruth who lobbied for the job (and many more times years later) was passed up. Many accounts have been written about how all Ruth wanted to do was to manage. The fact that the greatest player who ever lived was never given even an interview by any of the clubs spoke volumes. Original press stamp and caption are on the verso of this fine period TYPE I photo of the Babe and his mate and new manager.
