Note:   Why we love added handwriting like inscriptions.   
Some collectors prefer a signature only, no inscriptions.  We actually prefer inscriptions.  First, it is more handwriting (more DNA) from the famous signor.  Secondly, an added long inscription provides a significant layer of additional authenticity confirmation as few forgers will take the risk of adding more handwriting then necessary.   So when we see a high profile signature like Babe Ruth with him including a very personal sentiment, to a friend, it just adds value, provenance and excitement for us!

Babe Ruth Signed TYPE I Circa 1930 Photograph. It's one of Ruth's most recognizable images, snapped in the Florida sunshine of the Yankees' spring training grounds by Thorne Photo, the team's official photographer. We're used to seeing this shot printed in considerably smaller format, but here it spreads its wings to glorious 10x8" dimensions, providing plenty of space for its subject to apply his black fountain pen ink inscription. It reads, "To My good friend Wayne Hurst, From Babe Ruth." with a superb executed vintage fountian pen signature
The stunning photo is mounted to a cardboard backing (but only the very top of the photo is mounted, the other 90% of the photo is NOT mounted. Could easily be removed, see image below).  Presents beautifully with only minor handling wear. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.   Has the official Thorne Photographer stamp on back. 

Based upon our experience with several very similar images of Babe Ruth in the Yankees 1930 training camp, we are pretty certain this is from 1930.  Jaw dropping Type I 1930 photo, by Thorne Photography, , the team's official photographer in the 1920s and early 30s.

NOTE:   Although you may see this photo, signed, appear elsewhere, compare this photo to the others.  And you will see the difference between this high quality TYPE I photo and others which most are clearly obvious NOT Type I.   Later copies that lack the detail, contrast and tonality of this Type I.   Most of the others I found also do NOT look like they were produced off the original negative as this one was.
