Original and rare c1939 MGM "The Wizard of Oz" Pre-Release - Promotional Poster/Herald.  It is in color on one side and in black and white on the other side.  It measures 20" tall and 8" wide.  It is a single 20" tall page folded in thirds - one side is printed to be read horizontally - one side is printed to be read vertically.  See above and below for close-up pictures for you to view and also to be able to read the print.   *NOTE: The section "AMAZING SIGHTS TO SEE" where it highlights those iconic OZ moments etched into our childhood subconscious Forever!

One of the NICEST and most representative original "Wizard of OZ" PRE-RELEASE promotional items: A 1939 "SPECIAL SHOWMANSHIP HERALD" INVENTED BY MGM SPECIFICALLY FOR THE RELEASE OF OZ!

MGM saw the wisdom in designing this 2-sided poster/herald so it would deliver one full poster image on the vertical side and a plethora of interesting information and artwork on the horizontal side.  There is no question that this poster/herald is perfectly suitable for framing.

This poster/herald was found folded up inside a 1903 "Original Oz Book - The Wizard of Oz" .

This is a historic "Wizard of Oz" collectible ... as only a very small handful of these posters have survived!  It would display beautifully in a frame and this would be a great original addition to advance your "Wizard of Oz" collection!

Most of the original advertising materials fail to promote Margaret Hamilton in her career making role as the Wicked Witch of the West. This has two (2) GREAT shots of her in all of her wretched glory! Additionally, this special Showmanship Herald promotes EVERYTHING unique about the film, including the "Good Witch," Glinda, the Tornado and the Flying Monkeys, and, even the Horse of a Different Color! NOTHING else on the original campaign promotes all of this. Not only that, MGM saw the wisdom in designing this as a 2-sided piece, so it would deliver one full poster image on one side and a plethora of interesting information and artwork on the second side. No question, the poster side is perfectly suited for framing. It delivers amazing artwork all over it, featuring the remarkable talents of the legendary artist, Al Hirschfeld, throughout the entire title treatment!! This 20 inch tall piece would make a proud centerpiece display within any advanced OZ collection.

The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939). Herald (5" X 8" folded, unfolds to 8" X 20"). This wonderful Herald for one of the greatest fantasy films ever made shows something none of the original posters does: Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch.  The Herald folds out to 4 pages and is in spectacular condition.
Starring Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley, Billie Burke, Margaret Hamilton, Charley Grapewin, Clara Blandick, Terry the Dog. Directed by Victor Fleming.
