One of the most significant historical photos we’ve ever acquired. An astonishingly superb, extraordinary detail and contrast Original TYPE I photo from 1909 of Wilbur Wright flying over a steam yacht on the Hudson River.   We had another exceptional original Wright photo a couple years ago, but that one was not as detailed and high quality as this one, and unlike most others that have appeared on the market, in THIS photo you can actually see Wilber Wright in the vintage 1909 Cockpit !  AMAZING!!   This is one worthy of the Smithsonian ! 

Several customers have asked us ago the one we sold last time and if we’d ever get another.  Of course my reply due to the utmost Rarity was , “Probably not”.   Hence, I never imagined I’d be fortunate  enough to discover an even BETTER ONE!

Additional Provenance: Has original photographer snipe on back along with stamp from late 19th/early 20th century Newspaper “American Weekly”

Extraordinarily good condition for it's 112 + years.  Has a couple corner chips and light creases.

Large 1909 sepia photograph of Wilbur Wright making one of his most famous flights of his life, over the Hudson River in an early version of one of his planes. While images of this event can be found online, this is the only vintage example we have ever seen in any form. Large format, crystal clear and with a paper caption on the back, this is being offered here for the first time ever fresh out of a New York newspaper archive!
