George -- The Supreme Master of Magic (Otis Litho, Mid 1920s). Poster (20" X 26.75").
Born in Zainesville, Ohio, Grover G. George (1887-1958) developed a love for magic by watching Keller the Great and Howard Thurston at the old Schultz Opera House. By the 1920s, George was touring large, well respected theaters, but faced fierce competition from Thurston. In 1924, he made the key decision to leave the U.S., embarking on a hugely successful tour of Cuba, Central and South America. Although he attempted to return to American stages (as this poster heralds --"Triumphant American Tour"), George did not reach the same exalted status of "The Greatest Magician on Earth" that he had outside of the U.S. He retired in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he ran a prosperous business manufacturing projection machines for theaters. Featured for the first time by CVTreasures, this entrancing stone litho original poster has been professionally linen backed.

20x26.75" poster announcing the American tour of "George - The Supreme Master Of Magic" and his magic show, touted as containing "18 People - Carload Of Scenic Effects." c. early 1900s.
