VINTAGE ORIGINAL RARE! 11/14/66 ALI – CLEVELAND (BIG CAT) WILLIAMS OFFICIAL CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING PROGRAM @ HOUSTON ASTRODOME – ALI WINS in 3rd ROUND KO, DEFENDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!!

Muhammad Ali's place in American history is set in stone and will be 100 years from today.   And owning a piece of Muhammad Ali , is a priceless experience!

Terrific high grade, official program for the World Heavyweight Championship fight between Muhammad Ali and Cleveland Williams as sold for the fight at the HOUSTON ASTRODOME on November 14, 1966. Ali successfully defended his title for the seventh time in one of his finest efforts stopping Williams in the third round. Ali jabbed and battered Williams at will before dropping him for good, and the referee was wise to stop this bout. Ex-champ Mike Tyson has been quoted saying this is his favorite bout featuring Ali, as he admired Ali's physical condition at this point in his career. 32 pages complete with biographies and photos of both fighters. Clean and unscored. Oversized 9 x 12 program.

We will forever wonder "what might have been" in this fight. Williams had been inactive the entire year of 1965 while recovering from gunshot wounds he suffered at the hands of a police officer arising out of a traffic stop. Boxing reporter Jerry Izenberg adds "...shot for no apparent reason." Williams was shot with a .357 Magnum in the abdomen, barely survived, and suffered permanent kidney damage, a loss of over ten feet of his small intestine, and nerve damage from the bullet which affected his left leg above the knee, causing it to atrophy as a result. Williams didn't however bear the policeman any malice. It was in the above greatly diminished physical condition that Williams fought for the heavyweight championship against a peak Muhammad Ali on November 14, 1966 and was stopped easily in the third round.
