Boris Karloff
Original Vintage Authentic Autographed Photo
Arsenic and Old Lace  (7.5"x9.5")

The ultimate Karloff Autographed Treasure!

As a collector of vintage horror autographs for over 30 years, I am probably as qualified as anyone to say,, this is one of the most spectacular Boris Karloff Genuine Signed photos I've ever seen.  Only second to the Frankenstein photo we sold a few years ago, this is a photo we have never seen.  As a matter of fact, I  don't think a signed photo of Karloff from "Arsenic and Old Lace" has ever appeared on the market.    This particular shot of Mr Karloff is exquisite as he appears to be getting into or out of a coffin.    I have seen a few programs from this play signed but never a photo.  And as 95% of the Boris Karloff signed photos on the market are the same head shots and sitting poses, this in character photo stands out head and shoulders above the rest!..  In addition, this is just not any photo but an Original photographer's print with the photographer stamp on the back, along with production title stamp. .  Signed in vintage fountain pen on the front of the coffin,  "Bill Duggan Thanks for the most wonderful week Boris Karloff."

I could go on and on about this gem,but the enlargebale images above and below tell the story better than I could.

Boris Karloff in Arsenic and Old Lace (Broadway, NYC, 1941). Autographed Photo (7.5" X 9.5").
Vintage gelatin silver, double weight, satin finish photo. Boris Karloff played Jonathan Brewster in the Broadway and radio versions of Arsenic and Old Lace. Brewster is a homicidal maniac who has employed an alcoholic plastic surgeon to disguise his identity, with the result that he now bears a remarkable resemblance to Karloff as Frankenstein's monster. The play opened in 1941 at the Fulton Theatre, moved to the Hudson Theatre in 1943, and ran through June of 1944. A film version was released in 1944 by director Frank Capra starring Cary Grant. The photo is signed "Bill Duggan Thanks for the most wonderful week Boris Karloff." Verso: VanDamm Studio photographer print, pencil writing, and title stamp. The photo has been slightly trimmed. Fine+.
