Recently I watched  the 1969 film "The Picasso Summer" and what I remember the most was Picasso’s obsession with Bullfights.     Just a couple days after seeing "The Picasso Summer" this astonishing Original 1956 photo appeared on the market and I snagged it!   Not many such Original Type I candid photos of the iconic artist come around like this.    Represents two of Picassos most public obsessions, Bull Fighting and Women.     

Note:  Pablo Picasso was notorious for his infidelity, but his French lover, Françoise Gilot, managed to weather her stormy relationship with him better than many other women. While serving as Picasso's muse and the mother of two of his children, Gilot -- an artist in her own right -- has to contend with his relationships with other women.   But in 1952 Picasso started a relationship with Jacqueline Roque who became his muse and second wife. Their marriage lasted 12 years until his death, during which time he created over 400 portraits of her, more than any of Picasso's other lovers.  And in the lower left of photo is most certainly Roque,  as Picasso has a bikini clad girl 40 years younger sprawled on top of him.

A most historic TYPE I photo of Picasso.   Has a vintage ink notation on back detailing the photos history.     Some edge wear and creases, but condition is good.   Copyright holder’s name has been crossed out. I believe that the original owner worked for the Associated Press.
