Extremely Gorgeous and Rare Original Type I photo of the Legendary Asian Actress Anna May Wong

Note that this Stunning still has two photographer credit stamps on the back, one for Eugene Robert Richee, and one for Edward Henderson.   In my 40 years collecting I don’t recall ever seeing a vintage photograph with Two photographer stamps.    And in all those years,  this is the most striking image of Anna May Wong I’ve ever seen.   And it’s unusual and amazing large size 10 1/4" x 13" makes it even more breath-taking.     The back has extraordinary provenance on a studio snipe.
* When I pulled this of the package my first word was, "WOW!".

This masterpiece photo was Dual-purpose.  First it was to promote her 1983 film, DANGEROUS TO KNOW but also to model an Edith Head gown!

Its fascinating how Anna May Wong has been kind of re-discovered in this 21st century.   Watching all the competitive auctions for Wong vintage material its no doubt an indication of her popularity surge.

Condition: Amazing Excellent condition for its 86+ Years.  Has a gorgeous subtle vingage sepia patina

BIO:
Anna May Wong (born Wong Liu Tsong; January 3, 1905 – February 3, 1961) was an American actress, considered to be the first Chinese American Hollywood movie star, as well as the first Chinese American actress to gain international recognition. Her varied career spanned silent film, sound film, television, stage, and radio.?

Anna May Wong was producer Ross Hunter's original choice for Madame Liang in the fantastic 1961 musical ""Flower Drum Song, and Wong wanted to do the film.  However, her sudden death at the age of 56, just before filming was scheduled to begin, resulted in the part being given to Juanita Hall, who had created the role on Broadway.

In 2022 the US Treasury issued the Anna May Wong quarter, with a beautiful image of her on the back of George Washington!

BIO:   Eugene Robert Richee

Eugene Robert Richee headed Paramount's portrait studio from its inception and he worked with a talented coterie of associates including William Walling and Don English. Richee remains the least examined among the top Hollywood photographers although he was one of the finest - one needs to look no further than his sensational portraits of Paramount stars Anna Mae Wong , Clara Bow , Louise Brooks and Marlene Dietrich as evidence. Even a tireless researcher like Kobal had difficulty uncovering biographical information about Richee and it is only after Kobal's death that a few details have emerged about Richee's life including his 1896 birth in Colorado. He started at Paramount in 1921 and stayed for twenty years after which he left he left to take a job at Warner Brothers. Richee died in 1972 just before Kobal began exploring seriously the careers of Hollywood portrait photographers. Like Ruth Harriet Louise, Richee left scant biographical information behind but, again like Louise, he left a corpus of extraordinary work that may be seen as emblematic of the best of Hollywood photography
