Universal was near bankrupt when “Buck Privates” was released in 1941, and it was so successful it was credited with saving the studio from going Under! Any paper from this WW2 era classic is Very Scarce as 99% of the movie posters were destroyed for the War effort or simply discarded, leaving very little original movie relics from thismost desirable Abbott & Costello classic from the very first year headlining their own feature films. A legendary partnership thatwould continue for the next 15 years .

What else is so exciting about this Window Card is it is the first we have ever seen that has the full date stamp at the top (April 1 & 2, 1941), which was a blank area reserved for theater owners to advertise their show dates & times. Most of the time this top border was trimmed by collectors.

Condition: This Rare Treasures has plenty of vintage wear mostly on the border areas, but the main image area remains surprisingly NICE!  And unlike Most window cards, the top border has NOT been trimmed!
With no stains, tears, or missing pieces in the image area. And amazing gorgeous bright colors for this 85+ year old poster !

This film, with the addition of the Andrews Sisters and the song "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," cemented their fame and popularity for generations. One of the team's best movies, Buck Privates is a true classic, featuring some of the team's best material. This colorful and attractive window card, with wonderful caricatures of Bud, Lou, Patty, Maxine, and Laverne.

One of Abbott and Costello's best movies, Buck Privates is a true classic of comedy and launched the duo into Hollywood stardom. Alongside some of Abbott and Costello's most hilarious material are the dulcet tones of the Andrew Sisters with the popular tunes "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "You're a Lucky Fellow Mr. Smith," "Bounce Me Brother, With a Solid Four," and "(I'll Be with You) In Apple Blossom Time."
