Starring Roland Winters as Charlie Chan, Mantan Moreland, Keye Luke

Before there was Sherlock Holmes, before James Bond there was Honolulu Detective Charlie Chan. Beginning in 1931 with the first Chan film, “Charlie Chan Carries On”. The first Charlie Chan was actor Warner Oland, who made 15 films before his untimely death in 1938. Oland was replaced with Sidney Toler who made 22 Chan films before his death in 1947. Roland Winters would take over for Toler and go on to make six more Chan films for Monogram Studios.

We just acquired a Large Charlie Chan collection including about Eight complete sets.  Each card has on the back two pieces of paper (easily removed as it has very light adhesive) identifying the specific lobby card and the Owner’s name and city.  I have blocked out the names and city on the digital image only for privacy reasons.   It’s pretty nice that they catalogued and identified each card.

Condition:  Title Card is overall in Very Good-Excellent with expected border wear, minor border tears.  Colors are bright and beautiful.   Title card has some minor blue paint on part of right border edge and paper tape on back not for any repairs. 

NOTE:  Each card is in a Protective hard plastic top loader, so group image looks washed because they are each behind plastic. They are NOT Faded or washed out, original cards are Bright Colors!   I took a few photos of individual cards so you can see the bright colors and how they actually look in person out fo the plastic holder.

The final entry in the spectacular Charlie Chan series, this mystery thriller is set aboard an airliner who's crew and passengers have been drugged to cover up a murder and theft of a million dollars. Roland Winters stars as the famed detective who quizzes the suspects with the help of number one son Lee, (played once again by Keye Luke) and the perpetually scared Birmingham Brown (Mantan Moreland). Noel Neill co-stars as a stewardess.
