ORIGINAL VINTAGE   CAL NEVA LODGE Travel Brochure
Circa 1962-63

MEGA RARE ORIGINAL!

From the Kelly Smith Estate

There are certain historical artifacts that surface once in a lifetime !

More than just Rare, but (based on our 39 years & extensive research) this is One of only Two (we owned both) in existence!    From the Keely Smith estate.  Keely Smith is actually pictured on this Rare Cal Neva Travel Brochure with all the Rat pack legends, just below Tony Bennett.

That is the case with an incredibly exciting Frank Sinatra “Cal Neva” discovery.     An Original early 1960s “Frank Sinatra Cal Neva Lodge” travel brochure.       Seasoned Sinatra and/or Cal Neva Collectors already know the significance and intense desirability of this beautiful Cal Neva gem.

I have personally collected Frank Sinatra memorabilia since 1980 and I can tell you an Original Cal Neva Lodge Brochure has never appeared on the market, until now.  About two years ago we noticed someone selling Reproductions online, new minty white , computer generated replicas of this Very Rare piece of history.   However, based on our extensive research and nearly 40 years active in the marketplace, an ORIGINAL has never been found, until a man in Utah was recently cleaning out his late mother's home and discovered one neatly stored in a box of personal keepsakes.

For the serious Sinatra Collector, the ultimate find!     And if you one of the many collectors that have had no other choice but to substitute your collection with one of the fake reproduction replicas,   this is most Highly likely   the ONLY chance you'll ever have to own the REAL Thing!

Over the decades we have invested and sold just about every “Frank Sinatra Cal Neva Lodge” treasure ever made including the lighters, jewelry, ash trays, etc.   But, this is the first time we have ever seen an Original Brochure from the short lived Classic Sinatra/Hollywood monument   .

And as you can see from the enlargeable images above and below, it is a beauty taking you right back to the early 60s with amazing surreal images of the Rat Pack, Cal Neva performers, the lodge inside and out, the famous pool where Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra hung out the weekend before she died and even the period vintage cars parked in Mr Sinatra’s Cal Neva parking lot.        The brochure touts , "The Wonderful Why", "The  Wonderful Where", "The  Wonderful Who".

Provenance:
Came directly from the Keely Smith estate.

Keely Smith was a close friend, professional colleague, and briefly a romantic interest of Frank Sinatra, often hailed as a premier lounge performer in his era. Known for her deadpan, "cool" delivery, she recorded duets with Mr Sinatra, such as "How Are Ya' Fixed For Love?" (1958), and later recorded for his Reprise Records label.   But most importantly for this amazing piece of entertainment history,  Keely Smith is actually pictured on this Rare Cal Neva Travel Brochure with all the Rat pack legends, just below Tony Bennett.

NOTE:
Comes with COA from the Keely Smith Estate.

Cal Neva History:

During the time this item was made, Frank Sinatra was at a very high point in his life and career and figured that it would be great to partner up with buddy Dean Martin and silent partner, Chicago mob boss, Sam "Momo" Giancana, and others to run his own casino, the Cal Neva Lodge.     He owned the Cal Neva for a short period, from 1960-1963.

However, Nevada gaming commission regulations prohibited the attendance of any known criminals at any of its licensed gaming facilities. Since the FBI was watching the Cal Neva closely, they reported that mob boss Sam Giancana did visit the facility and his presence was acknowledged by Frank Sinatra. As a result, after just two years, Frank Sinatra lost his gaming license for the Cal Neva... Years later, in the early 1980s, Frank would redeem himself before the Nevada gaming commission and win his license back after grueling testimony by himself, Kirk Douglas, the Los Angeles sheriff, and many others. It's interesting to note that in Frank Sinatra's testimony, he stated that he never saw Sam Giancana at the Cal Neva.
