This was the fourth film in the Mummy series from Universal Studios. After the success of the original The Mummy in 1932, and highly profitable runs of other sequels to horror features, Universal embarked on a new Mummy series in 1940 with Tom Tyler taking over the role Boris Karloff made famous. The Mummy's Hand followed, of which a copy of the one sheet is offered in this auction. In 1942, Tyler was out as Universal wanted to promote their new horror star, Lon Chaney Jr., and cast him as the MummyKharisin the final three films. In this sequel, the Mummy is in Massachusetts being revived through the use oftannaleaves. JohnCarradine, as the evilYousefBey, is sent on a mission to retrieveKharisand the PrincessAnankaand return them to Egypt. Bey soon discovers thatAnanka, whose mummified body is on display in a museum, has been reincarnated and Bey now wants to kidnap the reincarnated princess for his own desires.
