We recently acquired a Collection of Three Rare Vintage Lobby Cards for the original release Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Classic, "PSYCHO".  (its been several years since we acquired rare PSYCHO lobby cards

The Stunning Janet Leigh Close-up "Bed scene".  The iconic desirable Close-up image that adored all the posters like the one sheets, half sheets, inserts and three sheets.

Important Scene Note:
Janet Leigh’s Marion Crane sits exposed and visibly unsettled, her sudden backward glance suggesting that danger has already entered the room. The delicate pink of her clothing sharply contrasts with the sickly green background, transforming an intimate moment into something strangely threatening. Even the image appears violently torn along its edge, while Palladino’s fractured PSYCHO lettering below foreshadows Marion’s splintering sense of security—and the horror waiting to destroy it completely.

For Alfred Hitchcock fans,  Psycho lobby cards from the original release of Psycho is an exceedingly rare, irresistible find. Based on the best-selling book by Robert Bloch, based on a series of gruesome, real-life murders in Plainfield, Wisconsin, this is the story of Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins), who just loves his mother to death. In a clever move by Hitch, he bought the rights from Bloch for $9,000 and then attempted to buy up as many copies of the book as possible in order to keep the ending a secret.  Here is Janet Leigh is her iconic desirable Close-up image that adored all the posters like the one sheets, half sheets, inserts and three sheets.

ARTIST BIO:

Tony Palladino (1930–2014) was an American graphic designer best known for creating the iconic fractured Psycho lettering. Originally designed for Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel, the typography was purchased for Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film campaign and appeared throughout its advertising. Palladino’s unsettling design also influenced Saul Bass’s celebrated opening-title sequence.

Tony Palladino’s Psycho lettering was deliberately crude, fractured and uneven. The letters appear torn apart and crudely reassembled, resembling a ransom note or a damaged personality struggling to hold itself together. That visual instability perfectly reflected Norman Bates’s divided identity and the story’s themes of psychological breakdown, violence and concealed disorder.

Its power came from its simplicity: before audiences saw a knife, a motel or Norman Bates, the broken word itself communicated that something was terribly wrong. Hitchcock acquired the design for the film’s advertising, and its slashed, disjointed appearance later influenced Saul Bass’s animated opening titles, where lines repeatedly split and disrupt the names on screen.
