A Striking, colorful vintage oil on canvas scene of a snow storm with what appears a man pulling a child on a sled through town with other people coming out of the market.  Excellent condition.  Signed lower right "Gerbino".   

Rosario Gerbino is a well listed artist,  His last "Snow Scene" painting  sold at auction in September 2006 for $9000. ..

Rosario Urbino Gerbino (1900–1972)

Rosario Urbino Gerbino was an accomplished Italian-American painter and illustrator whose evocative landscapes, harbor scenes, winter vistas, and cityscapes earned him recognition among the notable American artists of the early twentieth century. Born in Sicily, Italy, in 1900, Gerbino later immigrated to the United States, settling in New York City, where he developed a distinguished artistic career as both a painter and educator. 

Gerbino studied at the prestigious National Academy of Design, where he trained under respected American artists including George Maynard, Charles L. Hinton, Ivan Olinsky, and Charles Hawthorne. These influential instructors helped shape Gerbino's refined sense of color, composition, and atmospheric realism that would become hallmarks of his work. 

Beyond his own painting career, Gerbino served as an instructor at the Leonardo da Vinci Art School, where he shared his technical skills and artistic philosophy with aspiring painters. His commitment to both artistic excellence and education helped establish him as a respected figure within New York's vibrant art community. 

Gerbino exhibited extensively throughout the United States, with his paintings appearing at many of the nation's most respected institutions and organizations, including the Grand Central Art Galleries, the Society of Independent Artists, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design, and the Salmagundi Club, where he also received awards for his work. He was a member of several prominent artistic organizations, reflecting the esteem he enjoyed among his contemporaries. 

Known primarily for his richly atmospheric winter landscapes, harbor scenes, rural vistas, and New York cityscapes, Gerbino possessed a remarkable ability to capture changing light, seasonal weather, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. His paintings often feature luminous snow-covered streets, bustling waterfronts, tranquil countryside settings, and intimate still lifes rendered with confident brushwork and a sophisticated understanding of color harmony. He also produced illustrations and designed numerous covers for the Italian-language magazine Divagando, demonstrating his versatility beyond traditional easel painting.
