Provenance:  Official RKO Studio photos used to promote this 1936 film,  have extraordinary provenance on back, including studio snipes with detailed information on the image and event.   Also under the snipes on many is the official RKO Purple stamp.    

* Also on many of these RKO photos, under the snipe is the photographer stamp "JOHN MIEHLE".   If his name doesn’t ring a bell he was one of the most sought after glamour photographers during the Hollywood Golden Era.  Just Google his name as there is a plethora of information on him.

Here is a brief Photographer BIO: 

John Miehle (1902–1952) was an influential American still photographer whose work helped define the visual style of Hollywood's Golden Age. Born in Los Angeles, Miehle began his career in the film industry as an assistant cameraman on the 1931 film Delicious. He later transitioned to still photography, freelancing at United Artists before becoming a staff photographer at RKO Radio Pictures. At RKO, Miehle's elegant and expressive images played a significant role in promoting some of the studio's most iconic films, particularly those starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, such as Top Hat, Swing Time, and Follow the Fleet .

His close professional relationship with Rogers was notable; he photographed nearly all of her films during the 1930s . Miehle's portfolio also includes work on films like Rain (1932), Little Women (1933), Rope (1948), and Portrait of Jennie (1948), although he was often uncredited . His photographs are celebrated for their graceful composition and ability to capture the glamour and charisma of Hollywood's leading stars.
