1953 Rocky Marciano vs. Roland La Starza Program and Full Ticket. Rocky Marciano fought Roland La Starza on September 24, 1953, at the Polo Grounds in New York City for the world heavyweight championship. Marciano, the reigning champion, faced La Starza in a rematch of their closely contested 1950 bout. After a competitive opening stretch in which La Starza boxed effectively, Marciano's relentless pressure and body attack began to take control. In the 11th round, Marciano knocked La Starza down twice, prompting the referee to stop the fight and award Marciano a technical knockout. The victory marked Marciano's fourth successful title defense and reinforced his dominance during his undefeated championship reign.
