A Stunning original and very rare, antique circus poster.  From our research Bostock & Wombwell's began in the early 1800's, also called Bostock and Wombwell’s Royal Menagerie.  The artwork on this poster is just amazing.

Lovely stone litho poster advertising Bostock & Wombley's Gigantic Amalgamation with its "huge arena where all the animal performances take place." It has its original date snipe attached, which gives the place, the time and the admission fee for "Lectures" and "Performances." One can only wonder what the sense of awe must have been like for the people of the area who might have heard of, but never saw such exotic animals as the tigers and lions depicted here. An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. It is attached to card stock and could easily be removed. Please see full-color, enlargeable image to left for more details. Fine/Very Fine on Paper.
